So I win all five of my placement matches, get placed into Platinum, as usual.
I start playing my games, ranking up, as usual. I get disconnected from one game. I keep playing.
I think currently, I'm something like 19-1. I am not ranking up from Platinum.
To make a long story short, I started looking at my games and see that I've been basically face-stomping high level diamonds. So I'm like WTF? And I realize I got disc. to a low level gold.
So I guess, it takes a shitload of Diamond wins to offset a Gold loss to move up from Platinum? This ranking system has got be baffled.
I guess not that it matters...

The way the SC2 ladder is set up requires a minimum amount of losses before promotion. Dumb, but true.

Lost 5, then won 3, and got promoted to diamond. Two of my friends both lost 4 then won 1 and got promoted. It's awesome! -_-

This must be the nubbiest placement system ever, just can't get my head around why they would code it so. 7 losses to move up WTF ^^ It has been known forever, but still, MUHAHAHAHA!

Dude same thing happened to me (won all 5 placements 1 gold 2 plat and 2 diamond) and all I played were mid level diamonds and high level platinums and stayed 99-95 ranked platinum until bam! I am a 6th ranked diamond from a 96 ranked platinum. Just keep at it!

I got to about 1000 points in plat before they moved me. time to mass lose games!!

Platinum is becoming the new diamond, haha.. I see far better players in plat than diamond which is saddening.. (I can't get promoted either..)

I went like 20-1 or something in platinum, then I decied to loose 6 games.
What happend you might ask, got promoted to diamond. lol.

Players and their Number of Losses before Promotion:
0 - 5
1 - 30
2 - 149
3 - 291
4 - 537
5 - 596
6 - 646
7 - 660
What matters is who they lost to and not whether they lost or not. Whatever the result was that decreases sigma enough to fall within the boundaries of a new league is what counts.
