This is my first blog post, so I guess I should introduce myself a bit? I started following the korean scene approximately after the Daum OSL, but didn't start following it as closely as I do now until a bit later. I prefer BW to SC2. I play zerg (fuck yeah, zerg), love zvz, and am awful at zvp. Max rank C- but I got there through nothing but zvz on motw so it would be more accurate to call me D+ if I'm even that. Leta and Jaedong for life.
This is a place where I can talk about my progress as I try and get less bad at BW, and also a place for me to post idle thoughts about progaming. Right now I am trying to get better at ZvT, playing on Fighting Spirit. Strategically, I need to get better at and focus more on defending my expos and stopping drops. Mechanically I need to rework my macro to accommodate the fact that I can't use the 8,9,0 hotkeys comfortably, be better at watching the minimap, and stop having my keyboard wrist hurt every time I play >__>
Right now I am using 1-4 for units, the F keys for my main, nat, and third, 5,6,7 for the same things, and 8-0 for other hatcheries. This system does not work very well. I am going to try and switch to: f2 to main, f3 to nat, f4 to rally, 5-7 other hatches (expos first). In the early game I will probably stick with 5-7 as main/nat/3rd hatch because spamming drones is important and 5sd6sd7sd is not that hard. I plan on switching hotkey setups once I take my 3rd expo.
I really wish I could make a custom keyboard with the control key and 8,9,0 in better locations. That was something I never understood about why keyboard remapping (not macros) is cheating - what if you just made a keyboard that did the exact same thing? How is it any different than having DVORAK instead of QWERTY? But getting a fancypants keyboard would take effort so I doubt I'll ever try that.

I feel your pain. My fkeys are horrendously small, which just makes it annoying as hell to macro as terran. I'd get a new keyboard but getting one just for sc seems....too far for me.
Also for your hotkey setup I highly reccomend 6 to 0 be used for hatcheries. Get used to the 8 9 0 keys cause u really need them, especially for z

hmmm haha not having perfect hotkeys always bothers me as terran. now that sc2 is on its a bit easier... anyways, just wondering if you are going to transfer to sc2? although u still might need to hotkey some hatcheries differently as queen injection is important...

If I want to use 8 9 0 I'm going to have to switch to the right control shift for grouping and macro with 2 hands. It's either that or use my thumb. I only have 140 APM anyway; I think I'm better off using fewer hotkeys well than many badly.

I made a blog complaining about why i cant use the 098 keys. play protoss and your problems will disappear. the fact that your going to hotkey your nex 0, scout 9 and nat 6 and second scout 7 (PvZ) helps you know where the 0 is. i can find 0 because of all the PvZ i played. also, spam harder and try and concentrate harder to get better and faster. spamming may reduce concentration but maintain both at your regular level and your apm will improve steadily or if your my friend, its going to skyrocket from 140 to 300

I played the beta and... I just don't enjoy it. I'll probably buy it eventually for the next dota (the ums are going to be so sweeeet) but + Show Spoiler + On July 15 2010 15:07 sluggaslamoo wrote: For me its more about fun, than anything else.
I just find SBS (single building selection) a lot more fun than the macro mechanics. You can see result of your macro directly affecting unit production, rather than indirectly. Even at nooby level.
Unit control feels easier in BW than in SC2. I can spread or bunch them up easily, where as in SC2 bunching up is really easy, but spreading is really hard. Also how much you focus on your units seems to make a much bigger difference in BW.
Also when I'm pumped in BW it seems to make a huge difference to my macro and unit-control and you can really throw off other players too. However in SC2, no matter how much adrenalin is going through my veins, it feels like the outcome remains the same.'
I dunno, SC2 feels like a game, but BW feels more like a sport. In that, the amount of blood sweat and tears put into a single game, seems to much more directly affect the result.
Just my opinion though.
sums up my feelings nicely.
BW is like an intense fight where you and your opponent are constantly attacking and reacting to each other. SC2 is like, you each make a ball of units and a-move them into each other and one of the balls is better so that player wins. Also SC2 zerg sucks. But uh, I don't want to start a fire about SC2 >__>

I usually use my 3rd or 4th fingers for the 0 9 8 keys (3rd / 4th in terms of playing a piano...so 3rd being middle finger and 4th being the one to the right (on my left hand)
