holy shit, the beat sounds like it took 15mins to make max, and the lyrics sounded like it came out of someone's ass, it dosen't even rhyme. I could've done a better job. But how the hell can you make a song by just repeating "this is my pretty boy swag"... what the fuck? And which record company would sign him, cuz i want to know so i can quit my college and be a millionaire fast. And when did he got so many tatoos, looks like he's becoming a lil wayne wannabe which make less sense considering lil wayne is not much better than soulja boy and is actually gay, yes (not that his gayness had anything to do with his music).
I'm scared yo...

The music industry is directed at 10 year olds now... Did you know? Sounds pretty much like exactly what I would expect to hear on the radio today. I am so glad I grew up in the 90s. Fuck doing it now with what today's music industry has on offer.

How many times have you looked over at someones car just because their music was loud and it was making your car vibrate? It's also popular for car shows in the park. If your bass is louder than the guy next to you you will get more looks. People who like to show off could care less about the words that are coming out of the rappers mouth as long as the bass hits.

The sad thing is, is that society doesnt need well made music. It only needs music that performs a cultural function that leads to bonding and ultimately mating and reproduction. If screaming the word "FUCK" over and over while a generic beat plays brings people together then thats all music ever has to be to perform its function within a society. The mass general public requires nothing of music other than to feed its image of what they wish their lifestyle was. And that goes for white people, black people, all people. Male, female. The only people who are even partially immune are the very very few who are actually great writers and composers. And even they are merely romanticizing their own perception of what life is or should be. But at least they are the ones creating that fantasy with their own two hands and mind, rather than the rest of the world waiting at walmart for the cd to "drop". "Personal expression" grows on trees and has almost no real value, but "art" is very rare and can chance the face of society without even trying. Even when things are labeled as highly artistic and all the arty cliches are present, chances are its still just some a-holes attempt at getting laid. The cycle becomes ugly because everyone can see and imitate the facetious elements of art that have previously been successful. So they try to do what they see being done, but almost all of those artists fail. Not because the are unoriginal. Not because they lack the ability to personally express themselves. Its because they lack the understanding of how emotional impact of artistic elements work. They are architects who love a finely built building, yet dont understand how to build one that stays up. Everyone rushes to the finish line to be the rock or rap star, but no one is willing to lay low for awhile to learn how music really works, and how to make not only every song they write a hit, but every verse, and every half a verse, and every line, and every word. There is minimal effort put into the art of construction in music these days. "Nothin but a G Thang" is not just a rap hit. It is an artistic hit. It is an achievement in form and creativity, regardless of genre or style or age. Its creative value is present right there in how it is constructed if you were to deconstruct it. The emotional impact of the patterns are universally impactful, because they cut to the core of how the human brain perceives sound and how the human brain tries to predict patterns, yet loves to be fooled when the pattern is amusingly altered. Low and high points in the arrangement are intentional and are done with class. Fads and styles come and go, but well written, well thought out odes to the art of form will always be emotionally impactful on a universal level. Im not even into rap but much of that record is too brilliant to deny. Great writing is great writing.

The thing about rap music is, it seems that the talent and skill required to be a rap artists is decreasing dramatically, pretty much to the point that all you need is auto-tune and a few connections to become a big music sensation. Plus the lyrics themselves are of really low quality. For example, mainstream rappers pretty much rap about the same general things: being in clubs, getting drunk, getting with girls on the dance floor. This is why i respect rappers like Jay-Z, Eminem, Immortal Technique, and Fort Minor for rapping about the non-generic things.

LOL, so true. One time me and my friends were ripping through mainstreet with the windows down on a Saturday night at 10PM through the bar district, and I was blasting the William Tell Overture and Symphony Number 40 in G minor by Mozart. ^_^ Classical music is baller.
