My Dolorious Adventure of T and P In SC2

This is a my own heart wrenching tale of my tumultous and uncertain path of SC2 let's back track to my happiest day of the year. It was May 4th I believe, I was home sick and was browsing facebook, I remembered that Blizzard was doing a trivia contest for beta keys if you answered 5 questions. I answered them... in the comments not realizing I had to email them, I did but it seemed too late to get a key. An hour later there it is, in all of its glory.

Me and My Beta Key

After some ugly Placement matches I was placed in Silver playing my beloved Protossthe race I've been playing since 2000 when I started playing Starcraft I was 6 at the time. Yes I had moments where I would quit Protoss, or even Starcraft as a whole for a while. But I always came crawling back, I loved the sophisticated look of the buildings and the majestic power of a Psionic Storm, I thought I'd never stop playing Protoss.

But as I played more and more ladder games winning most of them I realized something. All the games I lost I had more fun playing than the games I won. For the most part, in SC2 I realized that winning and having fun as Protoss were now 2 different things. No longer were there powerful storms that could bring a zerg player to their knees and Korean fan girls to tears. No longer were the imposing force of a "Big ol Sheep with a caddle prod" (to quote Nal_ra talking about the Archon) Now there was this wussy gassy smurf zealot that tased people before getting blown to oblivion.
But the most painful loss of them all was the loss of the Reaver, Oh no not my most favourite unit! D: Oh The Micro, oh the teeth clenching PvPs, oh the 10 scv kill explosions that I bragged to all my friends about. It seemed the way most my winning games went, were just standard pushes of Sentry, Zealot, Stalker, Immortal, Colloxen. Or some cheesy Void ray play. The fun was gone.

So I did something I never thought I would. I switched to Terran... I realized that I could have fun and win at the same time, and despite what people said I loved the Hellion, and the interesting new Mechanics of the Terran. SC2 was fun again, and I quickly saw myself in Platinum League. Heck even TvT was fun. But then...

A Rainy afternoon I was playing a TvT on Scrap Station, I scouted 2 early raxxes, and expected some pressure. So I quickly got a siege tank to fend it off. Yadda Yadda Yadda, the game eventually turned into an hour and a half turtle fest, and it started to happen again and again in the TvTs I was playing. I didn't want to switch back now, as Terran was so much fun side this new TvT and it was also quite easy

. But then they nerfed void rays, and they nerfed Roaches, meaning less Immortal rushes, and less Voidray vs Marine Imba.

So I switched back to Protoss and now I'm happy, Im still platinum and I've rediscovered the joy of Psionic Storms. I Still miss reavers and Archons that don't die instantly, but Brotoss, Oh I love thee.
