Both the G9x and G5 worked really well for me i mean you can plam the G9x but you have to pick up the back of your hand (which is actually ergonomic lol prevents carpol tunnel) you'll have to reast it on your top of the plam it works well but i'm guess most plam grips people don't rest it as high up as the G9 makes you i'm sure it's something to get used to. I'd say the G9x best features are for out of games it's a great windows in general mouse with it's shape etc. You should bold that it's basically store credit in the op lol cuz i just skimmed it and skimmed over that part :D The G500 has alot of buttons lol something to get used to but it is cheaper. Looking though logitech mice the non ergonomic ones tend to be small portable ones meant for laptops it looks like. Shame the G3 died my G5 mx518 still work and in fact my friends use them now sense i don't have a use for them, they are worn but work just fine after years of abuse. Depending how you can use the warranty you might want to get something else form logitech and just buy a mouse more suited to your taste

I've had many Logitech Mice of the years. And I've mostly liked your company. I've had The old MX300, MX310, Mx500, Mx510, Mx518, and recently the G3. The G1 and Mini Optical were great too, but I never owned these ones. I even tried out other brands of mice including Razer. Needless to say, I was a loyal customer of your brand. Even though I disliked half of those, Logitech was the brand for me. My G3 recently broke, and I called the customer service line to do a warranty claim. First, I was told that I needed a receipt/invoice in order to place a claim (I have replaced broken mice previously and never had to give proof of purchase). This was a huge problem because It was a Xmas gift from 2008. After eventually getting the invoice from my relative a week later (which was only pure luck that she didn't delete the email) I called back. After about 12 minutes of hold I finally got through and the Rep informed me that the mouse has been discontinued. He then suggested 2 'similar' replacements. The G500 and the MX518, both of which are the same bulky large ergonomic shape which I detest. I have large hands and a fingertip/claw grip. I use the mouse for gaming as well as browsing and all these heavy, bulky, non ambidextrous, ergonomic, wireless, non laser, 100 button/customizations mice are just worthless to me. I am a serious high level Starcraft and now Starcraft 2 RTS gamer, I want a mouse to be simple and perform well. I don't need all these fancy bells and whistles, I don't want an ergonomic shaped mouse that is only for 1 grip type of casual gamer. See here http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=82573 The MX300, The mini optical, the G1, Mx310, the G3 were all perfectly beautifully designed mice. They had the low center of gravity, low weight, simple ambidextrous design, and the latter 2 had the added back/forward buttons for browsing that did not interfere with grip for gaming. The optical mice had progressively better DPI and then the Laser mice just overtook them entirely. These were the best Mice ever created. And now they are discontinued, and for what? Some gaudy, ridiculous looking'ergonomic' bullshit with 1000 buttons and removable skins and weights. So now, I am forced to warranty the greatest mouse I've ever seen/owned for something completely inferior and does not fill the requirements in a mouse that I have chosen. Why do you make such great mice and then discontinue them without making a new similar model to replace it? The G500, G9x, or 518 are horrible gaming mice. They can not even come close to comparing to the the G3. Basically my warranty is worthless, because I am not getting a replacement. I'm just going to get some garbage I really don't even want. You guys should send me a check for the price of my mouse instead. this way I can actually buy something good from another brand. Because with the current lineup of bad 'gaming' mice, or even non-gaming mice I'm never going to buy Logitech product again. I really hope that there are similar products to the MX300, MiniOpti, G3, G1 in the future because I'd like to continue using Logitech but I just can't, the products just plain suck now. Farewell Logitech It was nice while it lasted, Maybe some day we can get together again. Sincerely, and no-longer-loyally-yours, Mike So I wrote a letter to Logitech, hopefully it will get to the right place.

Honestly I doubt there is actually a logitech mouse that's still on the production line that suits your needs. Unfortunately your best option right now is to switch to razer imho. Logitech mice now are for FPS players and MMO casuals, which is basically 95% of PC gamers right now.

I'm from Finland so we would have to arrange shipment and such, but I think you're going through exactly the same thing I went through when I broke my MX300 and desperately needed a new one. (I used to play Quake 3 with a very low sensitivity, in which most mice couldn't keep up with. The MX300 could.) I now have my MX300, and I'm hoping to use it until I no longer feel the need to play videogames. I think I would be able to convince my sister into giving her G3 back to me and then I would sell it to you. I hope that this knowledge will at least cheer you up, because it was a great relief to me when I found out that someone else still had a MX300.

tl;dr: best option would be to get popular / fairly pricy mouse, such as MX518, sell, buy G3. If not, Optical Mouse ftw (unless they will only give replacement and no bonus for the pricedown).

What exactly is not up to snuff with your past experiences? Out of the entire Logitech lineup, an MX518 @ 1000hz is the best active mouse in pure tracking performance. The G1 is really your only option, otherwise.

DPI is a measure of sensitivity, or how little you have to move your mouse to move whatever virtual object you're controlling on the screen, such as your gun in a first-person shooter or your cursor in a real-time strategy game. "Technology has progressed to a level where you can move your mouse, say, one inch on your desk, and your cursor will move 2 or 3 times your screen length. That sounds impressive for sure, but where is the real value in that?" Rom asked. "That doesn't make you more precise or accurate; I would argue that it does exactly the opposite. A higher DPI in a mouse doesn't offer a lot of value, and it is not a benchmark for how precise or awesome the mouse is. It's simply a measure of sensitivity." Rom's argument is a simple one: go to a tournament where professional players are in the running for serious money. These are people with something real at stake, who know how to choose their equipment and settings for maximum performance. "Ninety percent of the expert gamers there will be using a DPI value between 800 to 1,600," he said. If you paid some serious money for your gaming mouse, check out its stats: it's likely it can do some multiple of 1,600 at maximum sensitivity.

Why is opti better than laser? Several years back laser was inferior to opti because it was heavy and it skipped and shit. But now it's clean right? So it's just better all around right?

I also hate MX518 and co and all those mice with weird shapes. I also could never go back to optical. I'm not as opposed to wirless as you are though. I use a logitech wireless for my laptop and it's awesome (I don't game with it though). On my Desktop I still happily use my G3 (best mouse ever) and I'm sad to hear it discontinued. If I were you I'd just choose the most expensive option, sell it on ebay and get a G3 on amazon.

![]() What I believe is your play is suffering because you have created a mental block in relation to not accepting something different about what you attributed to be the cause of your good play when in fact it wasn't.

On April 14 2010 16:04 AcrossFiveJulys wrote: stop breaking your mice man I had the Mx300 from like 2000-2001/2002 and I gave it away to a friend when the clicker wore down because he didn't have an opti mouse (lol ball mouse). This was before I knew how good of a mouse it was and that I could fix the weakening click with my little technique, or warranty it. I had some random 5$ opti after that for a while and in like 2003 or 04 I upgraded to the MX500, wore that one out pretty fast (like 6-9 months), and when it weakened it (still not knowing about stuff) I got the Mx510. 04-05, I learned about how everyone loved the mx300 and went looking for the mx310 because it too loved the mx300 and it was supposedly the replacement. Once I got one I realized what bulky pieces of shit the mx500 series mice were. Wore out the mx310 clicker and got a cheapo replacement (A4 tech mouse, actually not that bad lol). Realized that I could take apart mice and do my little melt fix to prolong life of mice and went through all my old mice that I hadn't given away yet. Those all lasted me until about 06/07. In 2007 I posted about my fix guide and people informed me about the pretty simple warranty process of logitech and I got a new mx310, and the mx518 (500 or 510 discontinued at that point). I tested out the 518 for a few hours and it was basically the same as the others and I just reboxed it and raffled it off at a LAN to Quesadilla (it changed his life, he said). 2008 my new mx310 was staring to wear out (brought it to work) and I caught the really good deal for a cheap razer viper while at the same time my sister got me a g3 for xmas for really cheap. Realized that the mx310 was pretty bad compared to the g3 (shape, weight, everything was worse) Been using those 2 since then, G3 just broke though. Almost all my mice have damaged left clickers and/or given away to friends. I still have all of the ones not given away in a box of random computer related shit and most of them have been 'healed' so many times that the plastic is brittle and wears down exponentially. Fingertip/Claw Grip + mass gaming/computering + #2-3 rank on TL whatpulse clicks = high mouse turnover rate. So the real question is not how do I go through so many mice, but How the hell do you call yourselves gamers and not burnout mice and/or try out all different kinds of mice? So what have I learned from all this? Buy 2 of any mouse that you really like. Warranty them both asap (before discontinuation) so you have 4 of them that will last you a good number of years. When they actually do wear out, then you don't have to worry about getting something you won't like as a replacement. And it's not stealing/dishonest because if you're like me, you will actually wear the mouse out under it's warranty, but it might be dc'd by then.
