Dunno if I'd be doing stories but I think I'll start indexing in case I want to do more later on. I read this on a book today, thought it's good to share.
There was a girl who lost her father from a young age, she lives poor with her mom. She's never wore anything pretty nor has touched jewelry. But on the Christmas of the year she turned 18, her mom, out of the blue gave her 20 dollars, to let her buy herself a gift. She's overjoyed, but she still does not have the courage to walk openly on the road, she clutched to her money, went around all the people and hugged the corners toward the shop. She looked at all the people on the street, everyone with better lives than the one she had, and felt sad, and felt that she's the most abject, miserable girl in town. She saw boys who appealed to her, and wondered who would be their partners for the dance that night. She went into the shop and the moment she entered the door, she felt her eyes sting from all the merchandises. As she stood there frozen, the sales person came and told her "You'd look fantastic with this faint green hairbow." She looked at the label and it said 16 dollars, so she said that she could not afford, and let's not try it. However, the salesperson has already placed it on her head. The salesperson told her to step in front of a mirror, and when she saw her reflection, she was amazed. She's never seen herself look so fantastic, as if the headbow made her into an angel. No longer hesitant, she immediately bought the headbow from the shop, and, filled with joy, ran out of the door. On the way out, she bumped into an old gentleman, but she did not care, she just kept running. Without her noticing, she's already in the middle of the town, and everyone was gazing at her with amazement. She heard people talking about her, saying that how come they did not know such a pretty girl lived in this town. She met the boy she noticed earlier, and he called out to her, asked her if it is okay to take her to the dance that night. She's never felt so wonderful, and she thought to herself, why not just spend the rest of the 4 dollars in the shop as well, and she floated back to the shop. The moment she entered the door, the old gentleman who she bumped into called out to her. He smiled and said "I know you'd come back, when you bumped into me, you dropped this." And with that, he handed back the green hairbow.
I have to be honest though, halfway through I thought it was going to be an unoriginal 'money doesn't make you happy' story, glad the story turned out to be more creative than that. ^_^

I don't have a story book unfortunately. This is some scholar's interpretation on "Confucius Say" that I'm reading.
Yeah, the last line totally turns this story on its head. Very clever and very well paced. It's JUST short enough that the reader doesn't get disgusted by all the materialism in the story and will forge on to see what happens. And then the end makes it worth it. Very nice.

Exactly what I felt. When I got to the last line I was ready to make a post bashing it for its materialism, and then I found out what actually happened, and it was actually really nice.
