I have kids, two of em. They need their entertainment from time to time, and they need to be served, being 2 and 3 years old. So I try to entertain myself at the same time, which is quite doable with duplo. The funny thing about duplo is that the limitations it brings make you think more creatively about how to use it, and perhaps it suppresses the perfectionist in me. Mostly I try to create things that might fascinate my kids.

I have created some funny things in the past but now I thought I could share the current thing I came up with and perhaps future things.

Yup it's quite simple really, but it's the idea that counts

The blinking lights are from a police car and ambulance that the kids got recently (From Sinterklaas, yay :D). I am still puzzling on how I can build a working scale. And I bet those blinking lights can come in more useful still in some ways. I do wish duplo offered some more options like blocks with smooth flat easy to use surfaces... or other ways to rotate things. Currently I can use the cone block like in the picture and have it be captured by the bottom side hole of a duplo block.

I'd like to invite others to share ideas on what can be made, or perhaps actual results.

ya, for really young kids. I believe the pieces are significantly bigger so they dont choke on them.

Yeah duplo is basically giant lego.
I remember as kid we would try to build the best duplo boat, then float it around the pool.
During winter we would put them on wheels and have 'smash up derbies'. Such good times lol

I used to LOVE THIS SHIT when I was a kid, and later evolved into Lego once I stopped trying to eat it. Much more cool today though.

There's devices that use this principle to write messages with a line of LEDs. I don't know how to google for it, but i saw it before. It's pretty cool, you have to calculate the spinning frequency to see how of a fast response you need in your diodes to change for the message to change (you can do marquees and stuff)

You know the smallest Lego blocks, those just 1x1 square? If your kids graduate to Legos, tell them never to try putting those up their noses, even on a dare.
