This is an idea that came into my mind not long ago. It is pretty simple and I think it would be pretty fun to be a part of if it ever happens.

A set of "coaches" (around 4-6) will be picking up 5 to 6 pupils each whom they will be training for a couple of months or so and after this period of time is over, the teams will have some sort of cw to see which coach trained their pupils the best.

Of course the trainees should be of around D- to C- icc level and the coaches at least around B-. And like any normal team, they can have their own tags, logos, etc, but this is up to the coach and how he wishes to train his students.

Yes a Zerg coach will most likely have all Zerg trainees, so this becomes somewhat a race war but still it provides for a good learning experience for the players and a good teaching experience for the coaches as they can focus on a specific MU in anticipation of an upcoming CW.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, I think this idea could be pretty interesting. But, you need to have higher level players that can actually teach properly. On top of that, you need players who are committed and don't just forget about it in a couple days.

This could be really fun, but might be a little difficult to organize.

I would personally love to participate (D+/C- Zerg currently).

This is a cool idea and you should definitely try to make it happen

Iruian at SC2GG used to run something like this about a year and a half ago, they would pick 6 D- players and get them to D+ over the course of a month and a half or so, there were 3 'race specific' coaches so some fun infighting like this naturally went on

I'd participate! D+ Terran, and Gretorp abandoned me long ago.

I'd also be willing to help out organize if necessary.

You would have to do a tournament before the training to gauge their skill levels before and after the training period. Then have the final tourney to see the winner.

I'm constantly coaching noobs and regulars alike on bloodbath, Maybe we can have a bloodbath only one? (it'll be quicker and easier for 1 map)
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

I wouldn't mind running and/or coaching, but I think you should set the coach levels to C~B- and player levels to D-~D+. Also, you could have a tournament among those D-~D+ players to get rankings, and then distributing them to each team so the teams are fair. Then you could have a week or so then begin the PL-style tournament games.

Can you employ any normal strategy on bloodbath?
I like the tournament though, it could separate players into D-/D/D+/C- or whatever, and then the coaches could pick the players they want from each category.

Haha, maybe we should wait and see if enough potential coaches are interested before throwing our hats in the ring, eh?

OP, do you mind if I make a post in Brood War to see how many people would actually be interested?

It seems like the basic thing for noobs to do, though is just to practice their basic mechanics like macro over and over. There's not much else a coach can say. I guess if they're really, completely new than they coach can teach them build orders and stuff but these days even D- people on ICCUP pretty much know those.
Can't believe I'm still here playing this same game

It's a lot easier when you have someone to guide you through the rough aspects of learning, and to keep focus on the right things to improve on. Someone to watch replays with you is very important when you don't exactly know what to look for yet.
