I have been playing starcraft now since april. I got together with some friends left over from the Red Alert 3 "pro-community" and started having fun playing mass games of Brood War.
Around July, with school work starting to take over and with my constant feelings of stress and anxiety over my final year of schooling, I slumped big time and stayed D+ often falling back to D.
This past November has seen my schooling finish (yay!) and a lot of stress has come off my back. Even though I had finished school around the middle of the month, and had time to mass game, I took a vacation from starcraft, and started to only watch replays/vod's/day9 daily (<3).
I probably owe day[9] and his amazing casts the biggest thanks for helping me to see my biggest flaws, capitalise on my strengths and exploit my opponents weaknesses. Yesterday I started playing again, zerg this time, and today I flew up to C- with a new playing style that I am really proud of. I am enjoying starcraft again.
I grabbed my ladder account which was 6-12 yesterday (mainly because i sucked so hard while i was playing before), and have gotten that to 26-18. Hooray!
I hope I can train my way to C in the new season, through the new year.
Happy Holidays TL! And a big thanks to everyone who has made a good strategy thread. You know who you are.

Good job dude. Hitting C- for the first time is such a good feeling.
|
u have 1 1/2 week to make your c this season =)
|
Congrats deth!
Too bad about your girl
Maybe you should organise another pp tourney :D
|
Congrats. Hopefully you get to C
|
So, where is this girl exactly : P
but 6-12 to 26-18 is pretty amazing!!
|
What iccup names you using btw?
And congrats!
|
Ah... I remember the day that I hit c- myself... which was like a month ago... Right now I'm D+ XD Anyways, congrats. Hitting C- and seeing that little yellow letter beside your name is a pleasure only the disciplined can acquire.
|

Yeah I've hit C- this season on a couple of accounts (tryina get them all to C- before I move on to C,) but D+ seems a lot easier than it was earlier this season even during Korean hours, maybe I got better, but I doubt it seems I've been playing on and off and rather inconsistently.
I think it's gonna be considerably harder for us to make it back to C- after the reset deth =(

@MrShankly
I am using ItsALion on iCCup right now, and "deth-", "dethrawr", "AltQ_Q", "ImNotOnABoatQQ" for offracing/prac.
@DarkSanta
I am probably most well known in RA3 for the names deth[stim] and _RustInPeace_.
|
nice u feel good now i think ^.-
|
Thanks!
I hope i manage to get C- soon, im really far away from it though, so doubt it
|
oh my god this made my day
<33333
thank you SO MUCH for viewing and for the comments <3333

Its less praise than you deserve! In particular the 29/11 Calm vs Fantasy VOD has helped me to start winning ZvT for the first time! :D
I'll keep viewing as long as you keep streaming.

Oh you use that 2 hatch muta into high eco mid-game lurker-ling contain? =/
i was thinking about trying that, but I have some prejudice against opening up 2 hatch. How does it work out?

2hatch? its the very death of terran. There is nothing a terran player fears more than a zerg who 2hatch muta's and has really good control. It's always soooo hard to stop.
|
well the build calm used in that game used 2 hatch muta defensively to secure a high economy mid game in which he got a huge army.
The reason I'm generally prejudice against 2 hatch is because it relies so heavily on your muta control, but that build Calm doesn't really require mutas to do damage, just hold off the MnM push, which is why I'm actually interested in it >_>

Calm is on another level. His timings are perfect, and his game sense is obviously just as good. If someone on iccup opens 2 hatch muta, and doesnt attack with them, then odds are they will lose. Terran has no fear , and doesnt need to quickly spam turrets all over (which wastes money and slows tech). You also wont be lowering his army count, so he is free to mass without much aggression. You also allow him to tech as fast as he wants, which is what every terran prays for. If you open 2 hatch muta, terran scans you, and you don't bring them to attack...he's just gonna go right to vessel, and walk out with 24m/m/vessel/2-3 tanks right towards your 3rd. This will crush most players, because they opted for a 2hatch muta build, and didnt use it to slow down terrans 9min push.
|
Eh not really, the build seems pretty accessible. The mutas come out early and force the terran to stay in his base. If he doesn't stay in his base then you can use mutas to defend with decent micro, while grabbing expos.
Then the way you beat the 9 minute push is instead of bringing defilers you get tons of lurker ling, surround and kill.
