So everyone has problems hosting their own games. I'm over that - I figured I can't host my own games unless I get a static IP and forward ports, which when I did last time it permanently fucked up OTHER people's internet connections in my network for gaming (although they had perfect internet access, they couldn't connect to any other people for GAMING).
Well, suddenly this has happened to me, but I have no idea what would have triggered it. Currently when I want to play Starcraft, I can ONLY play 1v1 games. THis is because I can only connect to the host. Every other person in the lobby will have two green bars. It's driving me crazy, I have no idea why this happened suddenly.
Forwarding ports is useless I've been told unless you have a static IP, and plenty of people can play with dynamic IPs, so I'm guessing it doesn't have much to do with that. I have a direct landline connection to my router via ethernet cable. I'm not computer savy whatsoever, but if someone feels like they would like to offer advice I'd love some.
EDIT: BGH was just an example as a I needed ot find a game with multiple ppl so I just logged on west. I'ts not usually a problem because I typically only play 1v1 on iccup (and as you see in that picture I can connect to the host).

don't base anything off of lobby lag, and 2 green bars is good regardless..

well if just some people in a game have 2 green bars to you its good.
but if everyone but the host has 2 green bars, you can probably not see what they type.
and when you start the game it will lag horribly while in the real game you either drop or mass lag will continue.

You must have a godlike internet connection to be strung up over 2 green bars.

2 green bars is sometimes port failure resulting in huge lag. It's probably what he wanted to show with the screen. Anyway, you are misinformed about the fact that only people with static ip can port forward. You or the guy who informed you probably mixed it up with the internal ip, which is always static if you have a router.

Yeah you dont need a static IP. Just open the ports in your router to whatever ip you have

green bars in game like that is NOT good. It's when you try to JOIN a game it's good. It's a difference there and I tihnk most of you have it mixed up.

... 90% of the time (in my history of playing SC for the last 2-3 years) 2 green bars means you can NOT connect to the other person.
It was hte same if you had a 30 green ping in age of empires II. It's meaning you're not connecting to the other person.
As soon as the game starts, every other player besides me drops, effectively ending the game for me. I can not see the other people's chat mots of the time either.

I just can't play SC anymore, don't know what happened, and my ports ARE forwarded although I did read on multiple websites that port forwarding doesn't do anything unless you have a static IP address .

Nah it just helps sometimes to have a static IP. Most routers now days keep track of which computer gets assigned which IP address and tries to keep the same pc on the same ip, i think anyways.
And fyi incase your confused there are 2 ip's. one is your internal one - the one that helps to be static. It is the ip that is assigned to your specific computer by your router. The other is your external which you dont need to worry about. Its the IP assigned to your household by your ISP, they are almost always dynamic.
You should type ipconfig into CMD and screenshot that and your router configuration so we can see if you've got everything set up right.

What kind of router firmware do you have? It might help to look for a setting labeled "block all incoming anonymous connections" and make sure it's unticked.
My router had that setting switched on, and I couldn't figure out just WHHHYYY I couldn't stay in game longer than 10 seconds before getting dropped. -_-

Haha I found out what was wrong. Due to the advice recommended, I took SS and posted that stuff. Then I realized that it said my local IP was 192.168.1.1 from router but otherwise from IPConfig it said 192.168.1.01. Fixed itttt. I can play nowww. Thanks.
