Funny thing is, we have the same expression in Holland, only replacing liquor with wine and stating the exact opposite. Wine and liquor are entirely different drinks...they're as far apart as liquor and beer are. Once again, get some experience with drinks first.

The longer the alcohol stays in your stomach the more alcohol it can process before it goes into your blood stream. This can however backfire if you have no experience. You will feel like you can drink all you want and hardly feel any reaction, so you will continue drinking harder than you should. At some point, the delay you created with eating a lot will be gone and you might get fucked up all of a sudden. Also don't drink liquors until way later, start with beer if possible. A big amount of liquor soaked up in your stomach can make for a nasty surprise 2 hours later. But generally, eating a lot is the best way to prepare, and bread and greasy carb heavy food the way to go. Just don't expect it to do wonders. I really doubt it's about coating or "bread absorbing alcohol"~~. More like the body can only metabolize so much stuff at once and if you keep it occupied witth fat etc the alcohol will simply pass straight through and you'll piss it out. At least that's what I would guess, kind of like how you used to treat methanol poisoning with ethanol.

You have no clue what your talking about do you? Did you even read what I said? Let me explain it to you in a way even you can understand: 1. You have a beer 2. You have a whiskey --------------------------------- Everythings alright 1. You have a whiskey 2. You have a beer -------------------------------- Everythings alright 1. You have a shitload of beer 2. You have a whiskey -------------------------------- You could be in trouble (might have something to do with the shitload of beers?) 1. Which will make it take longer to process all of it. The same quantity will eventually be processed but over a longer period. Seeing as your liver also gets rid of the alcohol at about the rate of a beer per hour, delaying the alcohol will actually make you "less" drunk.

Everything that you eat will inevitably be worked on by the liver before you can piss it out, it just takes longer. You are right in saying that the body can only metabolize so much stuff at once, so food makes sure you are metabolizing more than alcohol, so it goes into your blood slower. Also, greasy foods take longer to get broken down, and this increases the time during which alcohol is still not in your system, but when the liver is finally done with the fat, it's gonna get hit by everything you've been drinking at once.
