Pros: (besides playing music)
It's mac so it's simple and easy to use. (noob)
it has wifi
can put apps and games on it
can play videos

Cons:
it's mac so it doesn't have much tinker-ability. (noob)
shitty storage space compared to other equal or lesser priced devices.
touch screen stuff blows imo.
its pretty big/wide and not very optimal when being used for running or working out (compared to a nano or something)
very fragile and easy to break.
overpriced.

I probably left some stuff out but this is my opinion.

The Touch is a pretty damn good music player if you just need those sizes, but the incredibly sexy (and Zune Marketplace/HD radio enabled) Zune HD is coming out on the 14th. It does have app support, but it'll take some time before you get 500,000 farting apps like you'll get with the Touch. I'll be getting one eventually (praying for 64gb+) because the Marketplace is probably the best $15/mo I've ever spent.

What do you base that on? I left my touch on top of my car and it flew off at 45 mph on my way home from campus. It then got run over by a car, as evidenced by the large tire marks on the back of the plastic case. I recovered it (I was in the left lane on a three lane road, and found the ipod itself on the RIGHT shoulder) and it worked perfectly. The frame is a bit warped but it has yet to show one side effect in the eight months since the accident.

My previous ipod (4gb nano) took a barrage of hard hits on tile and concrete and still functioned perfectly until I bought the touch. I've come to accept that ipods cannot be destroyed.

I think you are just anomaly and very lucky. Metal and glass and especially touch devices break and wear down very very easily. I work for verizon and I see it like every week, someone will come in complaining about how the touch isn't very responsive anymore or doesn't work in some spots, etc. And they probably just put it in their back pocket a few times and sat on it and/or dropped it a few times.

Tbh touch technology is 99% gimmick. It serves no greater use for standard use and is often more of a hassle. I don't understand the hype at all. Even just the stupid click wheel on a regular ipod is annoying to me. Why can't it just be simple arrows? They would be more accurate and require far less movement from your hand/finger.

Yeah, ipod touch is definately not fragile. Hell, I've dropped it in water a few times and it still didn't die on me. Its durability is extremely good compared to most mp3 players and mobile phones.

Dude, that's what they always say. Nobody will admit to doing something clumsy. I really doubt it'll break after 'dropping it a few times'. I've dropped mine at least 30 times, a few times from pretty high places.

I know people lie, I never even bother asking about it. I'm just assuming this is the case based on my own personal experience with people and their expensive devices.
