hey all i need to get ready for college. as such i need to download all the music and movies and w/e else i can while i still have a decent, reliable, non-intrusive internet connection.
Please post random things that you think I should bring to college (2nd year) because I don't think I can listen to the 300 or so songs currently on my computer without throwing up.
Music Genres that I prefer (but by no means are excluded from): Punk, Metal, Rap, even gangsta rap, but none of that radio nonesense, Prog is also good, as is some Alternative and classic Rock. Guilty Pleasures that are hit or miss: Classical, J-Pop, Soundtrack things
Other assorted media- things that require thinking are always good. ex. Monty Python, Office Space, stuff like that.
Things that are good prep for tests are good as well. I had a classmate that watched 300 every single time before he took a final, so something like that, music/movie/tv/anime/whatever is good.
No games though, I have to get a 4.0 this quarter -_-
The new David Guetta - One Love album is quite good me thinks. Add to that the BSG OST (<3 Bear McCreary), Kasabian, Justice, the old 36 Mafia stuff (there is a discography somewhere to torrent), Kid Cudi, Dizzee Rascal, Sigurt, Diana Krall, Jill Scott, classic Mobb Deep, J-Squad, Ministry of Sound/Kontor and of course Britney Spears and you are good to go! (lol)
edit: there are some really nice series as well: - BSG - Breaking Bad - How I met your mother - Better off Ted - The Big Bang Theory - The Wire - Californication - Dexter - Desperate Housewives - Eureka - Life on Mars - Mentalist - Terminator SCC
Download HOUSE. Tons of episodes. Seasons 3-5 are gold. The Office is good too. I'm not a huge fan of most TV shows though.
Music? Hmm you could like almost anything. Hopefully you already have these: The Clash Rush Pink Floyd Radiohead
Will you need any software? If you're majoring in something technical, your classes may use design/analysis/math programs. I'm in engineering, and i've needed more than a couple of these.

Please don't ever put trash like BSG next to a masterpiece like The Wire. That said, The Wire is something you should definitely watch if you've ever been to bad parts of the city or cities where drugs are a problem.

I love both shows, so boo your opinion! The Wire is absolutely stunning due to the realism. I mean shit like that could be happening right now somewhere and it helps to understand the various parties involved much better. BSG on the other hand raises more philosophical questions and I like the characters and their relationships. In fact, it is one of the shows, which touched me the most emotionally.
