Lots of viable contenders for the international trophies in the coming years. Mbappe has already won a WC anyways, he is the real GOAT in the making

Argentina in that first half were absolutely electric. I think they deserve the win for that.

Insane finals and deserved win for Argentina in the end. Don't think we'll see another final like this again soon. With both star players delivering. Mbappe with three goals in a world cup finals is ridiculous and Messi with two and important in most of Argentina's offensive plays is crazy as well.

Waiting for the awards now.
Portuguese tv bias is amazing 😂 (someone must have told the guy something because after the commercial break seemed like a different person speaking lol)

Like I dont think France would have won back then without his contribution. As for moving foward, the team got some good young pieces, they just need to get rid of the current veterans who play like they dont want to be there. You clearly see the Argentina team really play their heart out for Messi last tournament, France just about Mbappe dragging some old guys along to this Final.

Much as my bias for this final was solely on ‘Messi getting his WC’ I do think Argentina were by far the better side all told, well deserved.
I don’t even think one needs to tick the World Cup box anyway, it’s silly. Play for a less talented nation, or you have a few bad teams and you’re out of luck. But hey it’s ticked
In a way it was required for Messi. Argentina are a competitive side at the top level and it was always about whether Messi could drag them over the line or not and he's proved that he can. Maradona was a truly terrible coach and the 2018 side wasn’t all that hot at all.
I mean prior to this World Cup that’s 2/4 shots blown, and while I still think the 2006 is the best Argentina I’ve seen (despite this WC) Messi was only coming into that side as a young talent so it wouldn’t have really been ‘his’ World Cup

Martinez. What a slogan lol

Doesn't France have a lot of great young players in their squad? Mbapee wasn't the only reason they got in the finals (England match for exemple).
Next world cup will be great. Lots of teams with a lot of potential.
And let's see if Mbappe will keep up with this level of performance. This is what separates Messi and Ronaldo from the rest. We will know 10 years from now.

Messi basically took the peak Maradona that got Napoli to a few titles over a few years, or Ronaldinho for a few years and kept that level up for 15 years. And took it up a level in terms of numbers.
Mbappe is an incredible talent but I don’t think he’s ever going to hit a level where he’s a team’s best goal scorer, ball carrier and playmaker all at once.

Tchouameni and Camavinga as a future midfield is terrifying. Dembele seems to be finding his way again.

can mbappe be considered goat if he stays in france his whole career? does club level matter or just national team success

Was wondering about that myself.
There is nobody from france football federation maybe?

Commentators are stating that Messi has won everything, that is not true. He hasn't won the MLS Cup, and since he has a residence in Miami that is a big miss... just a note.

Minus some catastrophic injury, he will easily shatter the record for most goal scored in WC. If he can win one more WC title, and a couple of Champion League then he would have very strong case. He doesnt need to be another Messi to surpassed him.

That is irrelevant or at least should be.
But then again i dont see mbappe as goat potential. Amazing player, chance to be a legendary player up there with the greats if he keeps pace in champions league and big tournaments but being in contention with Pele, Maradona or Messi you need to do more.
Before the french fans rain down on me, notice i've also not included cronaldo there, same reasoning.
