If the planning involves technical work, I probably can't help. Is it okay if I start creating player pages now or should I do it in userspace.

I would leave those pages in userspace for now. We can move them to mainspace once everything's done. Making pages before all the preparations are done would actually be really helpful so that we have a good amount of content once the other game stuff is all ready.

I fixed the second issue.
Please don't create a thread for every small issue, that's what the simple questions simple answers thread is for. Additionally, posting in this thread that you have created two threads in the Liquipedia subforum won't speed it up either. Otherwise, you could have just posted the issues in this thread.

Looking for feedback on adding bans to match info: http://i.imgur.com/15SJE0t.png

Does this make the match info pop-up too wide? Is it clear what the red border is conveying (banned heroes)? Is this something you think is even needed (I think so, but I'm curious).

Some CSS adjustments would need to be made, I can provide those.

This mockup was created on the Heroes wiki, but could probably be used for Dota 2.

I think the main reason it hasn't been implemented yet is that it becomes too wide for mobile.

Also I'm a fan of a red X through bans instead of the border. Although I think it's fairly clear what the border means, the X is explicitly clear.

Alternatively, I've thought about adding a green border to designate the first pick.

On Dota 2 we used greyed out layer to indicate bans.... but I'm not adverse to red X:es if that's the way you wanna go for this.

however I strongly feel we need to go over our icons for the heroes to make them more legible.

I agree with salle, I'm not preferential to either red Xs or a grey layer added for bans -- as long as the data is there and it's clear what it means.

On a slightly unrelated note, I wonder if it would be possible to a create an entirely new wiki page for each match. This would allow for more details to be added for each match (who commentated, match length, what talents were chosen, number of deaths per hero) without cluttering up the info popup.

At least in dota, we usually only do that in big tournaments because no one wants to put in the effort otherwise. In addition if as the others were saying, heroes doesn't have a good API then it'll be difficult to retrieve that information without having to fill it in manually.

For Heroes of the Storm to have a good data API, the wiki might have to be the source of the information that other APIs reference, not the consumer of an external API like Dota. Once the heroes wiki houses match data, a scraper could be setup to facilitate an API that exposes that data to other sites/apps.

Of course, it still all depends on the data actually getting entered, but if there are some interesting stats coming from that extra information maybe it will encourage tournament fans to keep the data up to date.

unfortunately this didn't work for dota2, so i don't really see it happening for the much smaller heroes scene
