Can we have a link next to the PM / Profile / Quote / Edit links where a user's previous posts could be listed in reverse chronological order? Perhaps going as far back as 30 days. This would make it easy for common users to report problem behavior with some users (such as trolls and spammers) to mods, and be a convenient way to follow up on your favorite poster's comments.

If this is not possible and you would rather keep it an admin-only tool (which I can't understand because it's becoming more widely used on forums these days, most notably on the Blizzard forums), can this feature at least be added so that a user can view his own posting history, and reply to threads in which he is involved more quickly/easily?

I agree with this suggestion and in the past have actually wondered why TL.net doesnt support this feature for regular members.

I think it will actually help the mods keeping the forums clean, because forum regulars can PM them the name of any poor poster.

On the downside, though, this might mean the MODs getting an ass load of PMs about spammers and "bannable" posters, thus making them work really hard to go through all the requested posting histories.

Although I see no problem with a posters posting history being available to himself/herself only.

well staff already have access to such a post history, so it might actually get implemented for users, unless saro feels it shouldnt be the case. i dont know

I thought about this several times. I think it's a really nice idea. A lot of times I find myself just wanting to read a particular set of posters instead of the current threads. I'd love to see this feature.

Listing last 30 days of posting of someone like thedeadhaji would be serious performance hit for this site, though

Just imagine that DoS attack possibilities of some retarded just banned user.

I've been wanting this for God knows how long, but only for myself.

I was advised to use a mynock like signature, but that became annoying quickly

i vote for this, if even for just personal posts

Someone asked for this years ago and the Mods said they already had it and nobody but them needs to see it anyways. I do think it would help keep the forum threads more actively completed though. I always have to search my own name to remember what threads I posted in and that doesn't always work every time unless I'm quoted or whatever.

Maybe just be able to see your own last 50 posts but not anyone elses?
..and then I would, ya know, check em'. (Aka SpoR)

i honestly don't see how that would tax the site anymore than a quadrillion result search query (which is pretty much every search query)

I thought this was discussed and mods have access, but to give it to users would require giving them alot more? (which of course is unreasonable)

Sometimes is hard to search for your own posts. Sometimes you know you made a post "somewhere" and someone is asking about it again. It may come in handy, im for it. But maybe theres a reason why they dont implement it for everyone.

It would take bandwidth and load the mods with annoying complaints about why poster XY should be banned. Imagine zulu_nation having access to dark nexus' posting history.

Having access to your own posting history (maybe of the last two weeks?) seems like a good idea though.
On a purely personal note, I'd like to show Yellow the beauty of infinitely repeating Starcraft 2 bunkers. -Boxer

What it would do is make people more acutely aware of arbitrary or unfair banning - and this might be a problem. But there is different ways of viewing it. Form a users perspective maybe it helps detect and correct them instead of losing valuable forum members. It would also actually help you to flush out both if they started complaining about each other publicly. Annoying complaints is a good way to identify problems, trouble makers and abusers. That is the job of moderators.

Posting a decent front page news sometimes takes hours, answering one complaint or dealing with a trouble maker takes seconds or minutes. The excuse that it is too much work for the moderation team I have heard it before - in many sites - and it is not one that I personally ever accepted in any team I managed. Compare only the large number of active mods, and the time they have to "work" with the time spent by the news posters or coders and you will come to one conclusion: some carry a much heaver burden.

Bandwidth? Depends really on how much is available but I agree 100% that if it slows down the site in any way - I rather do without search functions and use only Google. However if it does not kick ass search function with more options just adds to the site.
If they did not slow down the site in anyway (and the only way to find out it to put it to the test) I personally would enjoy this forum much more if I had those such functions. Testing is a solution - if it works, makes forum life better, leave, if it does not remove. Nothing is lost!
