mYm mentioned @ Kotaku
Kotaku.com, a famous gamers and idlers refuge, just published a short post with the title: Stink At StarCraft? Live In Korea? Look Abroad.
Here they mention MYM as a WarCraft3 players nirvana or end point; even for Koreans that can't make it in StarCraft or who refuse to play StarCraft. It is of course, a way to tempt the better WarCraft3 players in Korea into looking outside of Korea. WarCraft3 players in Korea have gradually but surely been asphyxiated by the pro-Gaming StarCraft e-Sport industry, at least comparatively speaking.
The post is based on an even better article from The Korea Times called Non-StarCraft Players Must Go Elsewhere. The Korea Times however points to Europe generically and MYM specifically; followed by a short interview of Jakob Dreyer, one of eight partners who together own and manage MYM. The answer that may be of most interest for the MYM and e-Sports fans in general was perhaps this one:
"MYM's ambitions for 2007 are to become the world’s leading e-sports community network. MYM will open up the new, 'physical' China office the March 1 with local staff and have in this matter great expectations to the development of the Chinese version of our Web site."
A mention in The Korea Times and the above plans are aggressive and bold moves by MYM that will surely reap the benefits intended. I will not add a single word more since the source articles says it all. It is worth a read, in particular The Korea Times article.
