Hellooooo people, In case you've missed our previous blogs, my name is Justin "sLeEpy" Peterson and I am currently living in Bucharest, Romania with my buddy Austin "RaNgeD" king, where we are practicing 8-12 hours a day and pursuing our dream of becoming professional gamers. If you'd like to catch up with all the stuff I've talked about including experiences and practice routines, be sure to check out my precious blogs. Wow so let's see where'd we leave off? LA traffic in grocery stores, loud bars, pretty girls and dirty clothes, got it. Ok so it's been a little over a week now since our last blog. Our rhythm with practice and everything is just about down pact and we are rollin' with everything enjoying the ladder reset as well as the amazing things the country of Romania has to offer.
Let me start by saying WOW it's officially a month on Wednesday. Geeze where does time go?! We lose track of our days because time flies by so darn fast when you are gaming all day. Sometimes the days go by so fast we'll eat lunch and what feels like an hour later we are hungry again although 6-8 hours had really passed by. We've been really getting in the rhythm with practice and enjoying the ladder reset quite much. RaNgeD is sitting at the top on EU ladder and is continuing to push. I believe he is bouncing between 10th-20th in EU and will easily be getting grand masters on US as well although he doesn't have many games over there. Personally my MMR is going up a bit, I'm sitting at a whopping 400 pts EU and US lol but have been tracking my MMR next to previous season points and am going against about 3600 players. I feel like my ZvZ and ZvT have been progressing immensely. My understanding and frustrations vs T have been settling quite a bit. RaNgeD and I have been having deep discussions not just about the game but beyond the game and the mindset you need to have. We truly feel and believe that having a positive attitude, even when losing, helps you out so much more than being stubborn, not "GG" ing after games and not watching your replays due to pride issues. Lately in ZvP (which is hands down my worst matchup and is holding me back in rating severely), I just complain about imbalance alot like a ton of other Zs. However, the last 2 days I've been trying to look past complaining about the matchup and accepting it for what it is, which has helped me out quite a bit in understanding the matchup. RaNgeD shares replays of Zergs he plays on ladder when he feels a Zerg plays really solid / smart, games against players such as DarkForce and Mondragon. The state ZvP is severely hard to win late game as zerg even if you out macro / upgrade your opponent if you play Economically Defensive / Passive. Late game, Toss is able to replicate a comparable army if played properly vs Z. Adding tons of gateways allows for a gateway heavy army to be made within seconds and in about 30 second waves give or take. If you play a Defensive / aggressive game using multiprong attacks, including drops and poking at your enemy, depleting their resources and army, while you eco + army up, it will lead you to a win. Studying, communicating and mass gaming really has been helping me not only in understanding the game but accepting it for what it is and realize that crying about imbalance isnt going to balance anything. So for all the Z players out there hatin' on other matchups, try to take your ego or pride out of the game. Even if you lost to a stupid all in by T that brought all their scvs along with some rauders and hellions into your base, cool off, load up the replay and you'll actually find out you probably droned too hard, had the wrong unit comp or scouted too late. heh. On top of that we've still kept up with practing 8-12 hours a day. We've been averaging anywhere between 25-35 games a day on top of other things I have spoke with you guys about in the other blogs. Nothing too much different other than both of us going into practice daily with a different mentality and outlook on what we do.
On some other news, we FINALLY got our washer so tomorrow we can start washing our clothes. Man we seriously have been rockin dirty clothes for a while now. It's been a month and we've only washed our clothes once on top of getting all nasty at the gym haha. We're starting to get back in shape which I truly feel has been helping us out mentally and emotionally in the game, it relieves ALOT of stress. YES, stress. Trying to pursue being a progamer is incredibly stressful at times. We also had a huge leak in the apartment and an area of the apartment was pretty much flooded for 2 days haha, awesome luck right? Our manager was pretty quick on getting all that resolved though so thats definitely a plus!
Outside of the apartment, we have met some new people. I was lucky enough to come across an awesome girl. Austin and I have been hanging out with her and her friends. Today they took us to a few parks where we were able to cruise around and walk a good few miles and get lost in the amazing beauty the city really does have to offer. Ducks, dogs, birds and beautiful women fill the park. It was loaded with couples who were obviously "in love" chillin' under trees, laying in the grass enjoying the nice day out. There were tons and tons of playgrounds for little kids, huge lakes, skaters and skate parks. It was pretty interesting to see some cool land marks such as the few we saw at Carol Park (which you can see in the pix below). A co-worker of ours took us to the movies with his wife and a few other friends of his earlier in the week where we watched Battle for Los Angeles (which sucked LOL). But nonetheless it was cool to see that the movies were still in English but had Romanian subtitles. Marius (coworker) told us that even though they have subtitles, it's better to know English, because alot of the jokes don't make sense in Romanian and then gave us an example of an ad that came on before the movie, made alot of sense lol.
That's all for this blog, hopefully by the next blog we'll have the video blog for everyone ready. Also RaNgeD and I have been streaming quite a bit, you can check his stream out HERE and mine HERE. We usually stream between 11pm-11am PST on and off. Thanks for reading up guys! Until next time, sLeEpy out!
