So finally after about two and a half months or so of buying and selling, my new dj set-up is complete. I've been wanting to upgrade for a while now as my last set-up only had control over 2 decks and limited other options. With this new set-up I have control over 4 decks and have a ton of other options now which is exciting because mixing will be much more fun. The whole thing is controlled via midi, which means that all the buttons and knobs and shit control the software; in this set-up they don't actually do anything by themselves (the mixer can though if necessary).
This was my previous set up. An Akai APC40 and an LPD8:
Here's my new set-up:
What it looks like together (Sennheisher HD-25 headphones, crane stand, other junk)
Behringer DDM4000 (the mixer I was talking about)
A Xone 1D and a Midifighter (Both are completely midi. The reason the midi-fighter is so great is because of the tactile feel of the arcade buttons which allow for very precise timings when pressing, and they look awesome too of course!)
The other Midifigher and an Audio 2 DJ (soundcard which basically gets all the sound output from my laptop to the speakers)
Mackie MR5 Reference Monitor
Utter clusterfuck of cables + a little discoball
Macbook running Traktor Pro (in the lighting the finger marks look quite disgusting actually)
So yeah I am pretty excited as I can start making mixes again. Funny enough, I recently quit playing competitive pokemon tcg, and after selling all my cards I was able to easily cover the cost of the upgrades + other stuff. I actually ended up making a profit with pokemon as I predicted some cards to get really dominate while I was selling so I mass bought them then sold them a couple months later for a nice profit. Funny how some pieces of cardboard can pay for this upgrade.

Argh the pics are extended! How do I fix this!?
Edit:
Fixed!

OMG APC40!!! :l I've recently bought one of those things and they're soooooo goood. Why switch though? Why couldn't you have just added both?

Damn, sick setup. Glad to hear you'll be making more mixes; I've always enjoyed the stuff you've posted in the past!

Did you? That's awesome. Don't get me wrong, it's a great midi controller, it's just that it would have no place with the new stuff. The midifighters control 2 decks each, the xone and the mixer cover pretty well the rest. That + space wise...the thing is massive and I don't think I could fit it. Also, after having it for about 10 months, I was ready for something different. Lastly I wanted the money, sold it for like 75% of what I paid...these things have great re-sale I tell ya...
Do you DJ or are you more into the music production end? Hard to tell cuz the APC40 does both!

Thanks! Yeah I haven't made a new one in about 3 months because of the buying and selling of gear. Great to hear you like em though.

I'm into both, I suck at being a DJ, but trying to learn. I love producing though. I have friends that play music and I play bass/Drums myself. So when I try to make some production, I try using real instruments rather than the pre made beats that the apc brings.

They resize on their own.
How old are you? O.o

Haha, the fingerprint marks make it look like your macbook's made out of felt!
I love felt.

It looks so confusing and awesome! Sick how you paid for it, too. Speculating the pokemon card market is so legit.

Haha that's funny, I find music production really difficult while DJing I am much more comfortable with. I tried Ableton...dear god that was too much for me lol. Perhaps because I was trying to learn that while I was trying to learn DJing at the same time...definitely a big wall of information there for a noobie. Bass/drums nice...are you into Drum n' Bass? I'm really starting to love that genre.

?? I'm 21 in april. What do you mean? The pictures? They don't resize on their own, not unless you select "upload images". If you just put them into the "add image" they don't resize.

Lol honestly...I made roughly $1000 profit or so from pokemon. I would keep doing it if it wasn't so time-consuming (monitoring prices of cards, selling, buying, trading, finding people to buy, etc.), just for the money. If you have any experience with starcraft (general strategy games etc.) you can easily determine what will cards will become meta and which ones won't. Then it's just a matter of buying and selling at the right time to ensure a profit. It does make for a good story though as to how I bought all this stuff...
Actually I might make an article on the pokemon tcg "stock market" now that I think about it....definitely very interesting stuff.

Behringer DDM4000 - Only thing i have a HUGE problem with is Behringer Oh God do they go out a lot. Ever think about Pioneer or like Numark or Gemini? Guess I am just asking why Behringer? But very nice setup dude!

Yess i know what you mean...behringer is usually crap, this thing is different though. At first I was sceptical...but after reading so many good reviews I decided it was best for me. Honestly, a 4 channel mixer with midi capabilities for $360 (what I got it for)...you cannot get better for a 4-chan mixer in terms of price. I only intend on using the midi...it being being an actual mixer (despite the fact that it has no onboard soundcard) is just a bonus. Pioneer, allen&heath, etc. mixers are just wayyy too expensive. I definitely did not want to pay 1-2 grand just for a mixer...couldn't afford that either.
But the DDM4000 definitely breaks the behringer standard imo...I'm quite pleased with it.
I guess you DJ too eh? What set-up you running?

Awesome. Should finally have one up soon now that everything is complete.

Yeah only one at a time. The rotary knob right above it controls which deck the jog wheel affects. I only use it to scan through a track...pitch bending is up/down on the midifighters. More of a bonus rather than a crucial part of my set-up as I didn't use a jog wheel previously.
