Well, another year gone (almost). I know that this website and many others will be plastered with New Years resolutions and stories. I simply wanted to post a small snippet as I have seen my past year.
Although I can't go into some details, this was a year of a *LOT* of growing up for me. I became a father in late 2009, and my daughter has now grown into a walking, talking, wonderful piece of my life. Every day I get to open the door to a beautiful piece of life that I helped create. Not only that, she looks forward to seeing me and loves me truly. It's the most innocent and pure form of love on the closest level humanly possible.
So, along with these precious moments comes a lot of stress. Working long hours, making sure the family is fed, warm, and comfortable. These are the same things that billions of people have gone through over time. So, what made this year difficult for me? Well, other than the lack of sleep and learning how to become a father I also learned how to take care of myself. In the past, I partied my ass off and did whatever I needed to in order to have "fun" each and every moment. This year I focused on cleaning my fun life up a bit and trying to enjoy the smaller things in life. Did I find all the answers I was looking for? Absolutely not. Did I learn a lot? Absolutely.
As I look forward to 2011 I see a bright future. Learning to take care of yourself and your family isn't easy but it is by far the most rewarding thing you can possibly do. I look forward to finally being able to apply some of what I've learned so I can sit back and truly enjoy the smaller things in life this year. Yes, that is right. My New Years resolution isn't this big, grandiose plan but rather a goal to create normalcy in my life and enjoy it. I have a lot of you guys here at TL to thank for some of those "smaller" moments.
What a great place TL has created. As you look to midnight tonight (here in the USA) or if it is already a New Year in your part of the world, I urge you to sit back and enjoy what you got and focus on how that can make you a better person in 2011. Thank you again TL and everyone involved as you guys have given me yet another great year. Here is to 2011!
