tl;dr - LR threads are really fun now, and much love to the people who post in them.
I am looking for D/D+ terrans who are interested in TvZ'ing with me at odd hours - my sleep schedule is currently 12 hours off normal (EST), so I kinda need to plan this shit ahead if I want to be able to play in the hours I'm awake. So, anyone up for some games?
Watching ret's stream makes me worry about SC2 - the game is not imbalanced but it seems pretty broken in that in every nonmirror one race is stronger early game while the other is stronger lategame and the result is that what in BW we would call an allin or cheese is not really correct to call that because there isn't much of an alternative and because even if you scout it it's still really hard to stop. wow, run on sentence, ahem, anyways ret got allin'd basically every game i watched because everyone allins zerg and terran allins protoss and the design of sc2 (high ground mechanics / warp gates / inject larvae / mule) make them strong and necessary. It's not going to get fixed by tweaking around numbers so the only way it's going to get fixed is in an expansion and even then it might not get fixed but even assuming it does that means that we've got everyone trying to pour money into SC2 and make it an esport and then every series is going to be like boxer's triple bunker rush of yellow... not good.
Also I warn any BW people reading this to forswear posting in the SC2 forum - it's a temp ban trap (and nobody is going to read your post anyways).
I played a ton of mineless minesweeper - got my mineless time down to about 300 (usually I "finish" around 280 and then spend ~30 seconds finding the last two squares that I need to click ). It's helped my sweeping ability immensely by making me less reliant on using the double click to figure things out as opposed to just as a pure time saver although I still haven't beaten my best time of 129. Also I found out that you can shift click instead of double click - is this a better way of doing things? It feels really awkward but if I got used to it I would spend a lot less time undoing mines that I accidentally planted.
One last thing that's been bugging me forever and I've asked before in LR threads but why not ask it in a blog thread - in korean starcraft when they click on a goliath most of the time instead of showing the unit portrait it just shows the static that normally shows when switching between unit portraits. Does anyone know why this happens? If I had to guess I would say that it's because there's some cultural sensitivity to gas masks or something and so they effectively censor it? Like how you can't depict skeletons in china? Anyways if anyone knows anything about this please let me know because it's been bugging me for ages.
winter break is awesome, time to watch more PL
