+ Show Spoiler [vs Hyun on Battle Royal] +
Effort forces Hyun to make too many lings, gets an expo up early, then snipes his overlords. The result is a huge rape by Effort in the muta/scourge battle.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Flash on Heartbreak Ridge] +
After defending with hydras against early vulture harass, Effort displays superb Savior-esque management play and destroys Flash straight up.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Upmagic on Neo Medusa] +
Effort defends against Vulture/Wraith harass and completely rolls Upmagic.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Pure on God's Garden] +
Effort destroys nearly a whole control group of corsairs with scourge in a few seconds.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Hiya on Carthage 3] +
Pretty sure this is the game that made me an Effort fan. Excellent game sense, hold lurkers, and flanks.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Luxury on Outsider] +
Effort goes 9pool vs 12pool but it doesn't matter, he completely out muta-micros the then 2nd best ZvZer.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Guemchi on God's Garden] +
Nothing too special (except Guardians) but a good reminder of how unstoppable Effort looked in ZvP.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Yarnc on RotK] +
This is one of my favorite ZvZs not involving a non-typical ZvZ unit. Straight up but extremely good play from both.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Jaedong on Heartbreak Ridge] +
http://www.gomtv.net/classics3/vod/955
With Jaedong going 9pool and his opponent going 12 hatch, you expected Jaedong to win, especially during the JvZ era. It doesn't happen. Watch for insane ling and drone micro.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Yarnc on Heartbreak Ridge] +
I guess if you're getting tired of standard ZvZs you can skip this, but it's so high-level you won't want to.
+ Show Spoiler [vs great on Heartbreak Ridge] +
Not only a great comeback by Effort, but a rare use of drop in ZvZ.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Stork on Outsider] +
The game itself was amazing enough, but more impressive was the fact that Effort beat an S-class player in an insanely high pressure situation. In my opinion, this is Effort at his best, even better form than the OSL finals.
+ Show Spoiler [vs SangHo on Heartbreak Ridge] +
SangHo gets embarassingly raped by lings.
That's frozean by the way.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Light on Moon Glaive] +
A few months before Effort went on a huge ZvT losing streak, he was probably the best management Zerg in the world. Here's the first in a series of late 2009 Effort management play, arguably better than his mid-2009 management.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Jangbi on Fighting Spirit] +
Late game Archon/Reaver/Storm PvZ is really hard to beat, but Effort thinks anything's possible with enough ultras.
+ Show Spoiler [vs free on Match Point] +
Lurker/ling/defiler smashes free. Features Effort's signature nonstop streams of lings once he wraps up the game.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Mind on New Tornado] +
The pinnacle of Effort's management play. I remember watching it live and my jaw being open for most of it.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Flying on New Heartbreak Ridge] +
Watch it for Flying's Arbiters and Dark Archons, but Effort plays and reacts very well. I'm pretty sure his queen was accidental though.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Kal on Neo Moon Glaive] +
Kal's Archon/Reaver force was scary as fuck, but Effort beats it anyway.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Flash on Judgment Day] +
The beginning of the rivalry. Effort starts out with a huge advantage and Flash manages to defend for a long-ass time, but loses.
I don't recommend a rewatch of THAT osl finals.
+ Show Spoiler [vs Flash on Fighting Spirit] +
Insanely good mind games at the beginning, followed by a straight up rolling in the macro game.
From then on it looked like Effort knew he wanted to retire. The Flash game was the last time I felt like I was watching the truly brilliant Effort. That last series against Kal was particularly painful.
But yeah, Effort had a great 1 year run as S-class and produced some of the best games of BW I've watched. He'll be missed.
