Today was your first official game. [T/N: Gom games aren’t KeSPA sanctioned]
-I was sent out when the team was behind 0-2, which made me nervous. But I didn’t think about it too much during the game, and won in the end. When the game started, my scouting Probe couldn’t get in the opponent’s base, so I was behind, but I stopped behind nervous after the midgame. I played like I did in practice, and it went smoothly.
Did winning the China-Korea games in China during the off-season help?
-It definitely helped a lot. It was my first time playing on a stage, and after that experience playing on stage, it helped reduce a lot of anxiety for playing today.
When did you feel like you won?
-During the whole game, the opponent was very aggressive, and I never had a chance to consider that I was ahead. I was only able to defend the first attack with the 2 DTs. Without the 2 DTs I probably would’ve lost right there. When I base-traded with my opponent, after killing the 4th expo, was when I felt like I won.
You have an unique hairstyle.
-I’m usually a quiet/reserved person, and I don’t like to stand out. Coach Park Jae Seok saw me and told me to change my hairstyle, and change the personality. I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but now I’m getting more and more used to it.
Goal this season?
-15 wins is the goal. Even though that goal is a bit high for a newcomer like me, I’ve still had my progaming license for quite a while now, so I need to aim higher.
Last words?
-Assistant Coach Park Jeon Si [T/N: not sure, someone confirm?] gave me a lot of help, and helped me improve quickly. Thanks to him a lot.
Park Jeon Si:
-After the format changed to Bo7, more players have a chance to play, and it gave Trap the chance to play. His style is completely different from Kal and Shuttle, I feel like he’s an excellent player with his own unique style.
Hero
Thoughts on winning?
-After the first two players lost, and Trap was behind in the early game in game 3, I was really nervous. After seeing Trap make a comeback, I felt, as a hyung, that I need to set an example too, so I’m glad I could win.
You had a complete victory.
-It looked easy, but there were still dangerous moments. The opponent chose not to continue attacking but retreated, which gave me a chance. After picking off the Overlord I used the timing and attacked, which was the key to today’s victory.
You’re on a 2-win streak.
-Last season began well too, but my record got worse and worse as the season went on [laugh] This season is opening well too, if Coach Park Jae Seok can keep helping out then I think I can maintain my current condition.
You said your goal this season is a secret, why?
-Last season I said I would get 30 wins, but I didn’t even get half of that by the time the season ended. So this season I set a big goal for myself, but I’m too embarrassed to say it. If I say it people will think I can’t make it, but I’m actually confident. If my results are good in the end I’ll say it.
After hyvaa transferred the team has even more Zergs.
-We have a lot of strong Zergs on our team, so even if it’s a Bo7 it’s hard to guarantee a lineup spot. If you don’t practice hard it’s hard to be sent out. Hyvaa joining gave me a lot of motivation to work even harder.
Last words?
-I want to share the joy of today’s victory with coach Park Jae Seok, who always quietly supports us.
Park Jae Seok:
-It’s disappointing that calm lost in game 2, but it’s no big deal. We can identify his weaknesses now, and they’ll be corrected by next time.
Classic
Thoughts on winning?
-After transferring to STX, I kept hoping that I would win as soon as I got the chance. I wanted to demonstrate that I’m in good condition, and I’m glad I succeeded.
Were you nervous playing?
-Trap and hero-hyung both won, and tied up the series, so I didn’t feel burdened. Ruby is someone I’ve beat before, and I’ve prepared carefully, so I felt like I would definitely win. I played like how I wanted to and according to how I prepared.
Your early game was nice.
-I realized that there was a proxy rax, so I quickly scouted. Everything went like I planned, so I played well. If I didn’t spawn at 5, the game would’ve dragged on longer, and I played a bit too aggressive, and stepped on some mines, but overall it was fine.
What’s the best thing about being on a new team?
-Everything is better. Everyone treats me well, and helps me adjust. The practice environment improved, and every race has a specific coach, and all the players are good.
Goal this season?
-30 wins. If I play well I hope to get 30 wins. Last season I only got 9, so 30 wins can be seen as an ambitious goal, but if I work harder there’s a chance to realize it. I hope to repay the team with a good result.
Park Jung Wook[T/N: someone confirm?]
-I don’t know if Classic’s timing was rushed, but Classic quickly adjusted to the new team, and he has a lot of potential, so we wanted to play him fast. Playing more televised games helps with improving results.
Shuttle
Thoughts on winning?
-I’m glad I could end the game. Even though I’m not personally satisfied with the game, the team’s winning streak is still heartening. Last season we opened with 2 losses, but ended well. This time we’re starting well, so I believe the ending will be even better.
Even though you chose an aggressive tactic, your offense wasn’t very determined.
-I felt like I should’ve just went for it too, but if it was defended, it would’ve been disastrous, so I was very careful. I’m confident playing late game too, so I chose to be more conservative.
The new format is Bo7.
-It’s good for me, since I have more chances now compared to a Bo5, and other players have more chances to play too, which is good. For this, I’ll practice even harder. Even though preparing for games is hard, I can still find enjoyment in it.
Last words?
-Mini helped me practice. He’s someone with a lot of unique thoughts that don’t occur to me. When we practice together a lot of good strategies come out of it.
Park Jeon Si:
-Even though it’s a Bo7, we have 3 assistant coaches, so we’re better equipped than the other teams when preparing. I’m glad there are more chances for the players to play.
