Ahh I see, most of the animes that I end up watching everyone says that the manga is far superior to the anime. Well I guess I'm just not experienced enough in choosing good anime

It usually boils down to better art, better pacing, and lack of filler.

Off the top of my head I've seen, Haruhi, Claymore, FMA O&B, Hellsing, not much else actually =\ Looking for a funny-ish/serious/action style anime, any suggestions?

Spice and Wolf is funny, has serious (economics) conversations, has has hot wolf on human action. More seriously, To Aru Majutsu no Index. It's a good time to watch it too since season 2's going to start soon. Seconding the recommendation for Baccano! as well.

Shiki I hear is good, but it's still ongoing. Highschool of the Dead was okay if you like zombies/fanservice. Amagami SS is ridiculous. And usually not in a good way. It's still entertaining though. Oh, and it's still ongoing. Cat Shit One is fucking great. Looks like R1CH removed automatic image resizing. T_T

Its got a bazillion sex jokes which I find hilarious) Kaichou wa Maid-Sama (Early episodes were pretty good but it got somewhat dull for me about halfway through the season)

Amagami SS is pretty good IMO, but its a visual novel anime (different from a lot and as stated before its short arcs) Highschool of the Dead.... this one gets mixed feeling it was pretty so-so... I liked the manga better and it ended on a weird ass note (where as the manga went further) Cat Shit One will be more than 1 ep but I heard its 1 ep/year or something drastic like that... Seitokai is pretty funny, but I cant remember which ep is was, that wasn't as great as the rest. Its better from your normal comedies I guess? I didn't watch Maid-sama. Hmm I recommend Shiki, its a really different type horror anime, Giant Killing (if you like the sport genre, but this is different where it focuses on everyone (coach entire team other teams etc) and not just 1-5 players). Uhh if you like the shonen animes with the kinda really typical plot, Nurarihyon no Mago is pretty decent. Edit: Whoops completely forgot about DenYuuDen... hmm I dunno I liked it quite a bit then I started getting bored with it, and its picking up again so... hmmm I'm not gonna drop it now, but was close to before. Oh and K-On!! is a must watch for sure.

haha, heavy on "fan service". Some episodes are so perverted I honestly questioned my interests. After the 50th random panty shot anyone would. But the premise is really really cool. And it's not like anyone who watches anime loves everything about it. If you can get past the odd parts the broad strokes of the plot will lend itself to awesome moments. It's a zombie take over, when has that ever sucked? If I'm like most anime fans, I have distinct favorites. It's different from movie lovers who typically can't choose a favorite. I can. Favorites: 1) The newest Full metal alchemist (2009). 2) Cowboy Bebop 3) Samurai shamploo New stuff that's kind of cool. 1) Seitokai Yakuindomo - It's so stupid, but it's really charming and funny. The plots don't really go much of anywhere, but it still manages to have a lot of content for such a short time frame. It's as though it doesn't really need a plot, and relies mostly on the chemistry of the characters, and the characters are awesome. 2) Sengoku Basara (season 2) - I basically feel like this anime knocks out a lot of the fat in an anime premise. In this season, this show basically does what DBZ couldn't do over multiple seasons. The first two badasses clash, and you think they're awesome cause they have badass fights. Then a bigger badder enemy comes, and suddenly the have to team up! Again! Season 1 and 2 seem shockingly similar though, sadly it hadn't evolved at all past cool fights. I've even resorted to skipping through all the parts with the playboy guy who wishes he was Kilik. 3) Highschool of the dead Can't ever go wrong with some naruto, but I didn't watch Bleach much past the first arc . I tune in occasionally to see if anyone trusts Ichigo yet. peace

http://brow2ing.doorblog.jp/archives/1547138.html OP isn't a "super leaker" like the Shonen-Jump guy so take the info with a grain of salt. Quick translation. (I don't watch K-ON so I only read like 1/2 of OP's posts but figured some pple here might appreciate the information.) (8:49:53 PM) Haji: some k-on rumours (8:49:57 PM) Haji: rumours about season 3 (8:49:58 PM) Haji: after a movie (8:50:18 PM) Haji: manga author is in negotiations about writing an in-college series or not (8:50:52 PM) Haji: if not, writing HS days from azusa's POV (8:51:15 PM) Haji: apparently they want to get s3 going asap before fad dies down

Been reading Sankarea lately. It wasn't what I expected. I went into it thinking it'd be some weird niche manga, but the story's actually pretty nice. Rea really looks like Saten from Railgun though. Right down to the flower in the hair. =/

It's not like the show's ever really had a coherent storyline or anything... Anyway, thanks for the info, haji. Been reading Sankarea lately. It wasn't what I expected. I went into it thinking it'd be some weird niche manga, but the story's actually pretty nice. Rea really looks like Saten from Railgun though. Right down to the flower in the hair. =/ Well wasn't the whole point of K-ON to go to Budokan after they became established, so I guess a movie would either occur there, or more or less what happened in 90% of season 2 aka 1. Nothing 2. Fan service 3. Filler time 4. Music (1-2 songs...) 5. ??? 6. Profit Also Sankarea is really good for a manga, but I really hate how a lot of decent mangas are monthly... I'm not talking about Soul Eater (though its better than Naruto/Bleach IMO).
