Day 1 Tournament report
So I just came back from WCG Canada. I had a blast there. Met some pretty awesome guys, nrg.NeverExpo and AhhBoxxah - who let us stay at his place. We arrived there on Sunday 8:30 am, me Sky and JF. Sky was a native quebec so he helped us get to the place which didn't take very long. When we got there it was soo crowded, somewhat do to some obese gamers >.<.
Didn't realize how amazing Quebec people were at speaking 2 languages, makes me feel like Torontonians are so lazy. We got by with English pretty easily at the Lan, though I couldn't understand the commentaries and some announcements.
We settled down played some friendly matches. I lost like 3 games vs JF in a roll, I felt rather worried about PvP after that.. We saw kiwikaki and slush behind us, usually with a group of sc nerds gawking in awe. I've watched the MLG finals and thought really highly of him. Aside from him, there was Taurent who was a high ranked protoss, them and JF were probably the hardest competition, the rest I felt would pose zero threat. I prayed I wouldn't get more than 1 of them in my group of 8. When the groups were soon announced, I realized that they seeded the highest point players in different groups. So all the players were no in comfortable groups. Phew.
What do you know my first game was a PvP match, I don't remember the player, but I remembered when i scouted his base I saw 2 gates done, I think it was a 10 10 gate. I myself did a 12 gate, 15 pylon proxy - my standard opening. I threw down my second gateway in my base immediately and chrono'd zealots and prayed he wouldn't move out. About 2-3 minutes later, nothing came. So I sent my probe to scout, and I saw 1 zealot, a forge, a cyber core... Lol I just attacked him with my 6 zealots and that was it. After the game I realized it was silly of me to worry about anyone exept the top contenders.
I went on to play 5 more protoss, 1 terran, and 1 zerg. I actually did 2 gate every single game and won each within 8 minutes.. The last protoss was the second highest point toss on my game. We had to play on scrap station, I've actually never played a pvp on that map, but I was already qualified being 6-0 So I just played around with a phoenix build. I ended up losing the game cause I had no idea what I was doing, the guy came over shook my hand and said that game made him sweat more than ever. Lol, nice guy.
You can find almost all my replays here, along with jf and the other tournament players http://replays.starcraft2qc.com/
JF also went on to do the same thing, I keep wondering why he just doesn't do 4 gate and win a lot earlier. His games took longer than mine, but he ended up 6-0 facing the last guy and losing to proxy gates on scrap. The guy killed his probe and faked getting gas. (SOB)
I was excited, this was my first time at a tournament as a favourite. Some random english speaking people went up to me and JF and asked us if we wanted to go eat with them (nrg.NeverExpo and AhhBoxxah)They were pretty cool people, I guess they met JF at some previous event or something. NeverExpo ended up getting cheesed by some bad player and getting eliminated, but AhhBoxxah played amazingly in his group with glacials and slush. He ended up beating slush to pass the group along with slush. I haven't seen the replay, but you should check it out.
Boxxah definitely one of the underrated players there. He always drew a big crowd watching him game, he has really high apm and was really fun to watch. Some random guy actually gave him money if he won a game(which he did).
Anyways he invited me and JF to sleep at his house which was really nice. His mom is also really awesome, cooked us breakfast and let us sleep on the couches.
Anyways I realized how long this was so I'm going to take a break now.

NrG is a really skilled clan, even back in the BW days. They had a consistent lineup of B and above players for clan leagues. It's no surprise that they're doing well in SC2 as well.
Sounded like you had a blast. I love reading these tournament write-ups.

Good ol' Slained is getting WCG-famous now? Cool beans! Keep it up!

Sounds like you had fun there. How soon until Apprentice slained bests Master JF?

Haha unfortunately Sc2 wasn't part of the whole WCG event, just held this LAN there at the same time and place as the other WCG events were going on. (games like CS 1.6, guitar hero, Fifa 10 etc). It was really fun and nice to meet a couple friends to game with etc :D Unfortunately the 4 of us were not equipped with cameras or we would have had some pretty sick documentation of the event. I'm proud of AhhBoxxah for playing so well, he definitely mad a name for himself and a lot of people were asking me about him and NrG. so it was very beneficial to all of us.
Also it was really really nice to see JF win the event, he was so manner and nice even though he is like celebrity user.

Too bad their manners are sub par, they were removed from the SGL for repeated verbal abuse of other teams.

What's the point of posting this? I know you went to the SGL admin and told them we were bm, and what you are talking about happened in a friendly CW. Unfortunately they held that against us. Instead of trying to work it out amongst our clan and yours you decided to run to an admin. You are just as sensitive as the SGL admin guy, nothing was BM, its friendly competition. Get over it.
Calling out our team, and calling our members "Sub-par" shows what kind of class you have as a person and a team leader.

Dude, there's a thread for that. No point on posting on every thread. Btw, NrG were very well mannered at the tourney.
I am glad you liked the tournament Slained. Like you said, i didn't know Ahhboxxah before that tourney but now i will follow this young talent.
Next event at ETS will be in march and should have a more decent prize pool.

Do you intentionally plug in NrG - Negative wherever you can? FYI sure I bm'ed masq, and that was basically due to the fact that i dont respect his play, and I was also pretty pissed lol, but at the LAN I can assure you every game I played I went to my opponent and shaked their hand, GG WP, whether I lost or not, and bmed absolutely nothing, considering even that I was winning a game vs a cheese, when it was 1-1, and my computer crashed, and I had to replay it. I said not a word and simply replayed, won, and shaked my opponents hand. Just because you're butthurt about one meeting with us, doesnt mean you can just go spreading shit about us...
EDIT: Also I offered to shelter both SlaineD and JF, not because I knew them prior to the event, nor because of some fanboyism, I simply thought that they were cool guys, we grabbed dinner together, all bw players, and since they were going to sleep on the floor i figured why wouldnt they sleep on my floor, instead of with like hundreds of nerds. In any case drop this stupid feud you have against us..
