What settings will you be trying to run the game at?
|
i heard this build can go up to medium/max but i want to run it on low
|
that'll work
|
I'm so jealous :p
I can't wait until I am able to build my own computer
|
Looks good, but you should eventually consider getting an aftermarket heatsink for overclocking, which will greatly extend the value of your cpu.

Do yourself a favor and get a better graphics card, spend an extra 60 dollars and get the 5770. I have the 5770 and I am loving it :D, I can play Sc2 on extreme settings and I am betting the 4850 could not. 512MB GDDR3 graphics card just won't cut it, However 1GB GDDR5 will make Starcraft 2 a happy panda
EDIT: The graphics card is also pretty sexy looking, I got the XFX one.
|
Pretty good low budget. If you have a couple of extra $ take a 5770. The 4850 is nice but the 5770 is just newer and better. Dx11 yO

Don't buy the X4 635 athlon, instead get a X4 630, save yourself $30 and put them towards a 5770, like people recommended above, you'll be glad you did.

512MB GDDR3 is perfectly fine for any resolution below 2560x1600 without AA. I have no idea where you get this idea that 1GB GDDR5 will give him any extra performance because it is the GPU itself that dictates the performance you get from a card. RAM is just extra bandwidth for higher volumes of data. It depends on what resolution he wants really.
The 5770 is a full $50-60 above the 4850 which is quite a bit of money when he only wants to run the game on low. In that case I would actually recommend going for the ATi HD 4670 or ATi HD 5570 which will run the game fine at low.

Yeah, I agree with the first part of this. When I put the build together, the X4 630 was about $10 cheaper, but now it is $20. Not exactly the most cost-efficient purchase. Go with the x4 630.

|
yup for both.
The different models of the 5770 are pretty much all the same. There are some versions with better cooling or slightly overclocked but they are more expensive ( like the Vapor-X line ).
|
is the corsair 550w > the antec 520w by alot?
|
Thats almost the exact computer I was thinking of putting together
|
iamtt1: Yes, it is a better quality power supply, but the Antec 520W is already more than you need for your computer.
Not sure why you want the 5770...
|
idk but i would always get the higher quality PSU considering you can OC and rely on your PSU to hold up better.

In case he decides to get a bigger monitor? Or turn up the settings?
the 4670 and 5570 are just bad cards with little future value.

can it run sc2 on max?(and forget about the mail rebates, im too lazy to send those in) i really dont know wat video card to buy.. i want the maximum performance for my resolution (1280x1024), the 5570 wouldnt really make that much of a difference with the 4850 with my current resolution, right?
right now i still have the 4850 selected as my vid card for 101$, im looking to find something that outperforms this card for an extra 20-30$ with my current resolution, if there isnt anything ill probably just stick with the 4850 because i still want to have the option of switching my sc2 settings to max
