WTF is Blizzard doing, honestly. I picture a team of guys just sleeping on the job. Seriously, 3 years after announcement and like 6 years of development?
What the fuck are they doing?
And the sad part is on release the game will (obviously) not be perfect, because no game is, and patching will take months, and it doesn't look like the game is revolutionary or anything. In fact it decidedly is not, so I really have no clue what they spent all this time doing. Tweaking the minor stats of units for 3 years?
Fuck me. I'm like Blizzard's biggest supporter, but still.

Fuck these rumours though, I always let them get my hopes up

Six years IS considered a VERY long development time. ESPECIALLY these days.

There isn't really any reason to be mad about them taking 6 years to make this.
The only reasonable thing to be mad out is when they claim it will be out "this summer", then "in 2009", and it gets delayed twice.

All i know is that because of all this bullshit we have been talking about i got hyped again about this shit and no beta yet... so let me go back to my poorly designed but yet entertaining SCBW and let's stop thinking there will be any beta this decade!

lol no, when the CEO says "Beta will be released this summer" and "Beta will start in 2009", and they don't happen, it's called a delay.

WoW wasn't released until more than 3 years after it was announced, and it's hard to get an accurate idea of how much work went on in early development for SC2 because a lot of the team was working on WoW back in 2004.
WoW as an MMO probably should take longer than SC2, but then again Blizzard is also doing Battle.net 2.0 at the same time, which has to support WoW/SC2/D3. According to Blizzard, Battle.net 2.0 is what's been taking so long.

edit: just to clarify this is from last year
"This summer we will be opening up external beta testing, and while we haven't announced a release date yet, this phase will also signal the final stretch [of development on the game]," said Morhaime during today's Activision Blizzard conference call.

I'm sure if you want to find the actual conference call, you can easily find it. I've already been through this stuff though no use searching through half a year old news again.

Ya their beta dates have been pushed back at least 2 times "officially" just in 2009. The first target was Summer of 2k9 as stated above. As summer rolled around and they weren't ready they retracted and said, "beta will be out by end of 2009". Of course these dates weren't cemented in the ground, but they were target dates that blizzard was confident in making enough to the point they told us about them.
Saying all that, even if the game took another 4 years to make. Once released we will be too busy playing to care about all this pre-release drama.

This HAS to be good news. I mean, what more can they throw at us?
....don't answer that.

Apparently Morhaime isn't the most reliable source in regards to beta? When Xordiah confirmed beta wouldn't come until 2010 she seemed genuinely confused that Morhaime had ever said that.
In his defense, I believe his exact words were "I'm confident beta will start before the end of the year," which could be simply interpreted as an opinion (although that would be a silly "opinion" for a company leader to say on TV).

disregard this. until someone can confirm.
