Well, a while ago I posted my iCCup goal blog, and that goal was B-. I figured I would update the blog every step of the way.
Yesterday I got back to D+. Woohoo, nothing really to talk about there... The beginning of the season was a brutal time for me though lol. I got raped over and over... Probably because I hadn't played much at all. After that little session though, I went on a college tour and came back and raped some hamachi games to get back in shape, and then slowly went back up to D+ after regaining my form. anyway, my profile: http://www.iccup.com/gamingprofile/]ParadoX[.html
So since there isn't anything to talk about there, I was going to ask some random questions about colleges.
As I was saying, I went on a college trip last week (I'm a junior in HS) and HOLY GOD college is awesome. I visited 8 colleges in North and South Carolina (I'm from Georgia), including Duke, UNC, High Point University, NC State, Appalatian State University, Furman University, Davidson University, Queens university (lol 1,200 students), and I think thats it...
BUT DAMN High Point University is so amazing. I loved the campus, the people, the faculty members I met, the facilities, the dorms, the place, the tuition (33K/yr out of state, not so bad compared to other colleges, and with the scholarship opportunities i think i could maybe go for 28K a year?), and the fact that I could get in (avg. GPA 3.0)! Anyone here heard of or go to High Point University? http://www.highpoint.edu/ I'd really like to hear more about it.
I also liked Appalachian State University. It had a really neat campus, a nice location (but when i visited it was kindof rainy and dreary ) Very green school, and I like that. Like all schools, the info-session was about to put me to sleep, but overall I enjoyed what I saw of the school.
And I think my third favorite school on the list is Wake Forest University. That school is really nice. Everyone seemed happy there. We saw a guy tie a rope between two trees and walk on it (pretty cool). I have to say, I would love to go here if it weren't for tuition and how hard it is to get in the college.
So I'd love to hear about college experiences in these colleges or others!
The race to B-: so far Fanta is winning by 200 points, but in D+, its more a matter of time than skill... The real race has not begun yet, but just a quick update!
Hope you guys enjoy!

Hey Gum, good luck on your journey through the ranks.
I went to college and HS in North Carolina and I am glad you will be attending on there. Highpoint is a really amazing university, but quite expensive. Appalachian State is in a very unique location, if you like nature and mountains it will be hard to beat. I went to NC State because I was doing engineering, it is a great school that many employers look to hire from, also not nearly as expensive as the others.
I don't have too much advice to give but those schools you listed are all very good schools, and I am sure you will have fun whichever one you pick. Go NC STATE though!

You more than likely got raped because you played 50% b- and above players. I always ask rank and its kinda starting to even out now, but most d+ players are C level.

Do you remember the binomial expansion of (60+4)^2 ? I'm not saying it's the fastest way, but that's probably how you end up with 60*60. I'd probably just do 64*6*10 + 4*64. Or realise it's a power of 2 (damn clown smiley [: )
|
First, why were you trying to find squares of numbers in your head? Second, Go to NC state it is amazing there at least from what ive seen i would recommend it strongly.

And I was squaring numbers because someone asked me what some number squared was and i answered and he was like "waow!" so i did it again to show off. And then I forgot how.

What do you want to go to school for? I live in NC and go to school at UNCW and love it. We have a really high girl to guy ratio like 60/40. We have the beach and a beautiful campus, and I have very good relationships with the professors in my major. NC state is a dude fest and brick city, and if you think that either the NC State or Highpoint look good then UNCW will definitely take the cake.

I think I'm leaning towards a liberal arts school like UNC, because I don't have a clue what I want to study. When we visited we met with ex students at our school (you probably don't know them, Everet Y and Jarrard C), and it was a really interesting tour and lots of people around (+). Franklin Street is cool too XD
