We can really implement these two subjects in our daily life, but I will leave that to you as I will be in fact focusing more on implementing positive thinking and realism in game of Starcraft that we all so love and care about.
Think positive?
Also, there are not only situation revolving around Starcraft that you have choice of being positive or a realist - there is a game wich you play, right here and right now. Let's say someone stormdrops you so hard that you lose almost all of your SCV/Probes/Drones - what should you do? Think positive that you didn't lost the game because you can reproduce enoguh workers or be a realist and accept that you have serious problem and try to maybe sneak an expo and pump more workers? Maybe to stop worker production and try to all-in using his (read other articles on "how did he win" subject for better understanding of this par) toughts that he did hurt you so much?
In case of Starcraft we shouldn't bother what mindset is "morally" right but what of those two can help us better. So, in the end it's all about user preference, you see - if you are person that will accept "I suck and I need to do this and do that to improve and I will do it until I get better in those segments of game" realism can really help you. In other hand, if you are person that has problems with motivation you could really use positive (and most of time unreal) toughts to get your spirit going so you can continue to play and hopefully get better at the game.
OK, think real - I'm in deep shi*t and I need a way to get out of this situation.
One thing to keep in mind is that no matter what do you use (positive or realistic thinking (see as I don't even mentioning "negative" because it is most of time lose-lose situation and it's no good, only if you are type that likes to put pressure + "against all odds" feeling so it he can make defiance in himself and try his hard to pursue his golas) - you just need to acomplish something. Don't ever let that focus be secondary objective, mindset is only platform that you will use to get that goal.
As I did mention, negative thinking is a subject for itself but really, I should cover it in some future articles, because if you think about it - with a bit (no too much, everything has it limits as everything that is consumed is small portions is not dangerous) negative "spice" you can make yourself more angry or let's say
determined to pursue your goals. It can be powerfull tool indeed and we will get to it future.
What suits you the best for great outcome is only thing that matters
Big problem with positive thinking is that it can be very double-sworded towards you as you can use it so much in your advantage - if you know how and you are such type of
person, or it can just crush any hope of wining the game. Thing to mention is that you really need to prepare yourself to prepare yourself for one way of thinking. See it like this: you need to judge wich of those two suits you better in specific situation, and as both of them are so different and can have really big impact on outcome of your goal - you better prepare youself mentally so it can be maximal effective. Problem comes in play when you don't know wich you should choose, as it's burden of people that CAN choose between positive and negative and it suits them in both ways pretty much OK but they need to make right choice in right moment and that can be pain. How to make good decision? Well, I'm sorry but this is an issue only you know how to handle the best. Only advice is to listen 50% of your heart and 50% of your brain and judge wich is more sober in that time.
Be sure not to decive yourself, you should always go by cold facts what to choose. Many time we think something is better but it's false feeling and it can be unproductive for us in the end of the day. So yeah, I'm geting back at "preparation for preparation" thing - be sure what SUITS you the best right now, not what you think is better - we already SAID that focus is to get your goal done. Don't sense this as thrill of chase, but just a method you can boost your percentage of success.
Take care,
