Hello, TL! I decided that I should start posting, after lurking for a long time. :D
I'm currently in my 3D modeling class, sitting through a lecture that is incredibly boring and not helpful. So I've been browsing the internet and TL the majority of the time instead. Only one more hour until I get a break though, wooo.
I'm not actually in the 3D program, I'm in the graphic design program, but this class is required anyway, which is why I'm not very interested in it. D: Haven't really done much in the class yet though to post any work.
Since my school has such a weird schedule, this class lasts from 8am-4pm. And it's only 10am so far. ~__~ So quite awhile to go yet.
But I will most likely be spending most of the rest of the morning/afternoon posting on here and doing other things on the internet. ^^
(It's always intimidating posting a lot on a new forum, because I don't want to seem too annoying or stupid or anything ;p Though that's kind of a silly thing to worry about.)

3D modeling is awesome though, imagine all the cool stuff you could do if you knew how to do it well. http://www.3dtotal.com/ check out some of that stuff, awesome imo.

TL is one of the most accommodating forums on the internet That is if you not a fucking moron (they have no place here) I'm sure your not, from the quality of this post Welcome to the family!

8 hour class? How in the hell do you sit through that. thats ridiculous
|
Welcome mate
and holy hell 8 hours of class TT

3D modelling is so win. You should pay attention; you might find out you like it. I really ought to try to take an actual class in it sometime. I don't do it very much right now because I'm totally worthless at texturing, but I can build some pretty nice shapes.

If class were one or two hours, people might actually pay attention. Eight hours on the other hand is begging for students to sleep and wander off. How is anyone supposed to stay concentrated for 8 hours at a time? I can barely play a game for 8 hours straight.

Hello lurker!
Wow, that is a fucking long class though. I'm sure everybody is screwing around lmao.

Welcome to TL.
I find it surprising that some people actually think 3d modeling is not amazing
|
I'm so excited because I just got promoted at work (kinda), and although this promotion doesn't come with the usual perks like more money/better hours, it does mean that 1-2 days a week I will spend time sitting behind the computer, which means I will finally join the elite group of tlers that post while at work/school!
I will probably make a blog similar to this one when that happens, except instead of 3d modeling I will talk about golfcourses I guess.
Yay!
Welcome teserai.
GL with the remaining 6 hours of your lecture. (Anyone else feel really bad for teserai's prof...imagine lecturing for 8 hours straight.)

Yeah, that's really retarded, unless like 3/4 of the class is a lab setup.

You're being very modest, which forum do you find most accommodating then?
Edit: Grammar.

I'm usually impressed and enjoy seeing the things that people can do in 3D modeling but, I've tried it before and it's just not for me. ;p
Also, the second half of the class is lab/work time, so the teacher isn't lecturing the *whole* time at least haha. Though it sucks too because most of the work doesn't take the whole lab, but you are required to stay for it anyway. D:
And thanks for the kind welcomes. ^^

To be competitive in 3d design these days, you have to spent a lot of your free time building your skills. It's not something you can just do in class and then forget, if you want to have the skills to land a good job once you're done. But your focus isn't 3d, so I guess it doesn't apply to you
We used to spend our entire evenings in the animation lab, and some of the guys would even sleep there from time to time.

Yeah I spend a ton of time here at school for my projects too, haha. Sometimes staying all night, sometimes leaving at like 3am then coming back at 8am and stuff like that. I have really bad sleeping habits already though so it doesn't affect me too much. ;p I just wish I lived closer to the school like I used to. (roommates moved out and couldn't find another place in time, so had to move back in with my parents for awhile )

I loved my 3D modeling class freshman year in high school. It was so much fun to just mess around and try to animate. I should go back to that now.
Oh, and welcome to teamliquid.
