The black friday idea is a good idea

For that price it is. Just to tell you 3200 mobile is a shit card for games it's integrated so not that good as a performer.
That processor is a newer one. Prob something like 2.1ghz but it's a moble processor don't expect much. The RM is only a turon not a turon ultra.
Slow HD but pretty standard on a laptop
For that price it's a good buy. Nice media laptop.

I think it's safe to say though that he'd be able to play Starcraft II pretty well, right?

It's not good for the price. But, the radeon 3200 is actually going to be decent for games. It scores 1800 in the 3dmark06 benchmark, it's not great but games will be playable.
If you want a cheap $400 dollar notebook, the acer is a very good deal. Has a 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo and it scores around 1000 at the 3dmark06 graphics benchmark. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9052945&st=9052945&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218012528210
HP Notebooks are really cheap with coupons at hp.com. Check notebookreview.com for hp coupons. There isn't any coupons right now. But HP releases new coupons every week.
I bought a HP dv5t with a 9600GT. It scores a 4400 in the 3dmark06 benchmark. If you really want to play games. Get this notebook. I bought my notebook for only $842 dollars with a 30% coupon.
