I was just playing around on icup yesterday, and I tried out sair+reaver for the first time. It's actually really good/works out for me more than normal ground army style play does. Maybe I've only met bad players on iccup so far, but I have this weird intuitive sense about sair-reaver that I don't have with normal protoss pvz ground armies.
That and I love transitioning to carriers in pvz, it's so fun to watch all the hydras go pop!
Anyone else have this experience with sair+reaver? Shout it out!
fyi, if anyone wants to get good at sair reaver, there was a thread in the strategy forums a couple days ago, it was really good and had a lot of really good replays that can teach the basic BO (core at 22 etc.)
HF GL GG.

I'm not a protoss player but on the occasions where I have used reaver sair in a PvZ it has worked extremely well. It's just so fun dropping like 6-7 reavers right into their main, everything in sight is obliterated in seconds
The thing I found you have to watch out for his 3 hatch mass speedling to tame your fe cannons. Even with a couple zeals and all of your nat probes they can easily break in.

Yeah, but I've found that you mass cannons at your nat because you should have a bunch of minerals left over from going a gas-intensive build like reaver sair. With a good pathway blocking, 10 cannons or so, and a reaver or two, it'll take a while.
Plus, I've found making some DT's to be so useful, They don't dare send their ovies everywhere, cuz I mean, who send ovies everywhere against reaver sair?
But thanks for the advice, I'm gonna go practice some games and see if I can find someone to practice this BO with. :D

You need to block your cannons with some buildings. Makes them 10 billion times more effective, and it's a ZvP nightmare trying to break down the front door if there's a few templar or reaver there as well.
Yeah, sair reaver isn't any harder than a regular game. It's just shitcocks like Combat-EX that make FPVODs of themselves doing it saying it's like trying to ride a unicycle over razor blades in the wilderness.

Yea, I tried reaver/sair for the first time and won by a bigger margin than usual as well. The hardest part is the beginning, using the reaver to defend before you can attack, and if the opponent is skilled in countering it then it also is hard with a low reaver/sair count. I noticed that if you make it past the initial stages of the strategy fine, it becomes easier and easier because you are limiting his expos and harassing him with an increasingly larger reaver/sair army, and you begin to have excess minerals as you gain more map control, thus funding a ground army, which you can either use in unison or as a double-pronged attack with your reaver/sair. Great strat [:
Doesn't work on Terran though (I tried ): ).

Lol, yeah, we all wished reaver sair worked against terran, :D, wait actually maybe it could, if you could get dweb amd dweb their defenses.
Hm, new things to try all the time.
One question though, like how many gateways do you guys usually get? and how fast do you get them? I always end up with like 3000 minerals whenever I go reaver sair and it sucks to have that many minerals.

Anyone who transitions to carrier after Sair reaver, while probably going to win the game, is LAME.

Start making gates after you have reavers producing and minerals start collecting. Ideally long before 3k.

Of course it works, all you have to do is plunk down 4 reavers and mash the "build scarabs" button. The zerg has to either see it coming and set up a perfect ambush with scourge, or see it coming and set up a perfect flank with hydralisks.

Ahahaha
I for one dislike Corsair / Reaver, seems like too big of a gamble for me, if you fuck up anything (no Corsairs, no Shuttles, no Reavers) you will die a quick and painful death ;_;
|
Haha, first time I tried Sair/Reaver I was like "oh yeah, those little speedy things are scourges" and lost horribly.
Always fun to hear a strat working out for someone though.

Yea you gotta make sure your Corsairs die instead of your Shuttles -_-

I thought the point of corsairs is to kill the scorage before either sairs or shuttles die. xD

Its surprising that you could get sair/reaver the first time. I still fail at it even though I've tried to pull it out in games a few times. I lost even tho my opponent is D terran offracing as zerg lolz.
|
LOL, it's probably cuz I fail so bad at standrad pvz that my pvz reaver sair is good in retrospect. ^^^;;;
|
your shouldnt get to 3k;; unless ur maxed
|
|
err if you get 6-7 reavers to drop in their main the zerg must not be doing, like...anything. lol. Chances are if you dropped 7 of anything with more damage and health than a drone they would gg. =p.
