Think I said this before but there really won't be a "winner" in the traditional sense. Newsom is a unrepentant liar, but he can speak in complete sentences and since he's in "hostile territory" it would be very hard for his own side (those who even watch) to fault him for a bad performance. Besides the man is vain and obviously chasing higher office, so he's taking any and all opportunities to make himself known. Even though it's the largest state, CA is largely ignored by the national press, since it's all the way on the opposite side of the country from DC and is 3 hours behind. If reporters at national outlets see it and write him up, that's a win.
For DeSantis the stakes are obviously more immediate and the motivation more obvious. I don't watch Hannity so I don't know if he's in the tank for Trump or not, but it will be curious to see how he treats the two. I think Newsom has been on Hannity many times, apparently they get along. Maybe it's the shallowness. Only thing I know is that all the hardcore Trump people who only started hating DeSantis when he dared to run against Trump will proclaim Newsom won no matter what.
All that being said, both men are competent enough behind a mic so I don't expect anyone to "win", both will declare victory. I'm just curious if that helps DeSantis at all.

Newsom has to be feeling something strong if hes willing to go into enemy territory like this. Everything he says is going to get chopped up and spat out in the worst light possible but if he can overcome that and come out with a win he will be able to ride this for a while. Definitly puts him in pole position if something happens to biden.
Newsom has been on Hannity before and his interview was played out in full without deceptive editing.

In uplifting news of the day.
Kissinger is dead.

A divisive man to be sure. Got two of his books. An interesting insight into his thoughts and details of world politics and sino-us normalization process. Made some pretty damning actions/comments in his time and was about as often right as wrong. Him receiving nobel peace prize is even more hilarious than when Obama got one.

"Divisive" yeah right... One of the worst criminals this world has ever seen.
This quote is just so money, Anthony Bourdain on Kissinger: Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.

Well. I always wondered why Kissinger gets so much flack (not that he doesnt deserve it) while Nixon gets the pass. It was Nixon who actually ordered the bombings, Kissnger talked him into that sure. But ultimetly it was Nixon who made the call and bears most of the responsibility.
Kissinger is credited by some for avoiding nuclear war with USSR and war with China. Thats why I said he is divisive. He defiently made a lot of despicable things.

So the not-so-secret ccp asset is finally dead, wonder who'll xinnie bribe next to be kissinger's successor. They already got their grubby paws in everything, those police stations were just the beginning. Stay vigilant guys, and always keep one eye towards the back, lest you wanna get stabbed >.> Doubt Biden bought any of their bs during that two-hour meeting when the ccp have repeatedly shown to do the exact opposite of what they say and "promise" (like inverse cramer meme), deception is practically basic ccp foreign policy at this point lol
Credit where credit is due though, kissinger was a master at portraying himself as a harmless, naive, and bumbling idiot, which would get other countries' state officials to lower their guard and severely underestimate him. Only when they see the US's finalized actions and policies do they find out they got the raw end of the deal, and finally realize kissinger's ruthlessness. This kind of deception he probably picked up from China lol
Anyway, rip, with p being the yellow liquid and all, depending on how much one's hydrated during the day.

we're about a half hour into the debate and after a pretty punchy first half hour Newsome is starting to land some real body blows.
Did no one ever teach de santis to smile and how to look normal while you're not talking on stage?
Hannity low key is doing a better job than any other moderator this year.
De Santis is hitting the balls put before the plate but Newsome is turning ignoring the question and answering the one he wants into an art form.
Newsome alleging that De santis approved amnesty in John Behoner's bill and supported Obamas immigration bill is getting an instant and violent response. If Anyone in the presidential campaign can get their hands on proof that's a knockout blow for the guys career.
They've come back from a break to put in a bad stat for newsome while just letting him cook on it twice now. Hes been well prepared to spin it with other stats while de santis nails down the prompted stats with these wild stories about people that :just come up and talk to him about how bad it is in Florida.
De santis casually pulls out some pornographic cartoons he was holding onto and shows it on television.
Newsome just bearly survives that attempt to nail him down on if he supports any abortion restrictions and when he wants to ban it. Trying to flip the table to de santis asking him if he is for a national abortion ban is slightly effective but I think he was expecting a lot more strength with that card.
hitting the "lightning round" about biden. Trying to trip newsome on loyalty to the Biden-Harris ticket. its a very prickly field and Hannity asks the hard question about "DNC convention if they offer it to you" that Newsome knows too well to avoid the concept of.
startg with Gas prices this should be good.
Hitting de santis with his sierra club support yikes. I think That De santis may have stumbled onto some political genius that he didn't recognize there. Compareing "green energy" with "reliable energy" would have been a huge hit. I think newsomes pivot to oil company price gouging and transparency with big oil was sharp.
Yikes we're going to go into Hamas vs Isreal now. This can kill if you step an inch off the line. and they properly jump right off that topic as fast as they can.
Ending with a "what do you like about the other state" question being hijacked by newsome to compliment de santis and then Promote Joe Biden
Opp we're going into totally unplanned overtime to keep talking. or I guess not randomly. I won't say a lot of good about hannity but that was the best debate of the year we'll probably see and better than anything next year.

Definitely agree Newsom is much better at looking normal than DeSantis, which actually is important to a lot of people. The guy is handsome. He just looks the part of a politician.
Unfortunately for Newsom Hannity keeps putting up graphic after graphic showing stats of Florida being ahead of California, violent crime, taxes, net migration, unemployment, etc. with Gavin struggling to respond, e.g. on violent crime "Jacksonville has 126% higher murder rate than San Francisco" which just screams of cherry picking after they put up state vs state stats.

People on the left haven't gotten the memo that lady is a fraudster? ok. Newsom didn't even dispute the numbers, ppl should probably drop that conspiracy theory.

This went kinda of how I thought it would except I think actually Newsom did surprisingly poorly. Dodged almost every question and lied with Trump levels of shamelessness. Imagine calling DeSantis a lockdown governor (after Dems spent 3 years criticizing him for opening)! It's just so hard to Gavin to overcome the fact that CA has droves of people leaving and FL is growing. CA lost a seat on the census, FL gained 3-4. Then he adopts Trump and Haley talking points (even referencing them) while going to unnecessary lengths to defend Biden... wild. Is this really what he thinks he needs to do? DeSantis made good points, and even brought props, while Gavin was resorting to faux offense-taking. IDK, I expected better from him honestly. But he simply couldn't concede a single thing. Shows why Trump won't show up the debates, I mean Newsom was making some of Trump's points! oh well.
The post a few above is just exactly what I said would happen. Gavin lies, and his side cheers because he repeated their talking points. Neither party is serious about the issues we have.
DeSantis' line about "freedoms" in CA is basically the whole thing in a nutshell. and Hannity was the best moderator of the cycle lol

Yeah, some of Newsom's criticisms were just bizarre, such as trying to call DeSantis a lockdown governor and saying "You followed the science, you followed Fauci!" How exactly would that even be a criticism? Isn't that kind of like saying "you're not as much of an extremist as you pretend to be!" I suppose it's damaging to DeSantis as he tries to court the fringe of the party, but wouldn't that be appealing to the majority not on the fringe? So if Newsom's goal is to personally tank DeSantis's political aspirations maybe it's a valid point but if the goal is actually a debate of who governed COVID better than it seems like a stupid point to make. It also seems like a self-admission that DeSantis's anti-lockdown policies were far superior to his own which is why he's trying to rewrite history.
Edit: Also made the point that DeSantis supposedly supported amnesty for illegal immigrants during his time in Congress. In the same vain, shouldn't Newsom's talking points be that The Republican party is off the rails and they've turned to fascism/extremism? How is arguing that their most extreme guy followed the science on COVID and supported amnesty for illegals supposed to achieve that? Isn't it better to attack him as an extremist than as a hypocrite?

I'm having trouble finding a full video of the entire debate between Newsom and DeSantis... could someone provide a link please? I see a lot of soundbites and clips being posted on YouTube, but I want to watch the entire thing.

worth noting that a majority of Republicans actually voted not to expel him. Party power is, as we well know, more important to them then morality.
105 Republicans for, 112 against 206 Democrats for, 2 against
