Thanks for the list! Does this also include proleague earnings?

For example Shuttle can receive $5k alone from donation for a Proleague, but he lost that one so the entire money has to be redistributed to the winners, but $5k (in balloons) still goes in Shuttle's balance. How the money is distributed among the players I honestly don't know. Maybe some Korean posters can shed some light on this.
And that's also why you see the likes of Soma, Queen and Hero so low on this list. For example Queen only earned 22k from this ranking and because 40% of his balloons were cut by Afreeca (insane fee I'd say) as he also streams on youtube, which makes him not eligible for "Partner BJ". But that means his actual income is higher than 22k because there are donations from youtube and money redistributed from proleague. Eloboard estimated his prize from proleague for the first 9 months is ~$72k (fee from afreeca and youtube not accounted though).

Eloboard estimated his prize from proleague for the first 9 months is ~$72k (fee from afreeca and youtube not accounted though). Proleague funding mechanics (might not be 100% accurate):
During initial fundraising phase, each player gathers funds in 2 main ways:
1. Advance deposit ("선입금"): the donator donates star balloons directly to the player's stream. Done on a "per winning person" count ("두") - For example "두 100" means 100 star balloons per winning player (for a total donation of 400 star balloons for a 4v4 and 500 star balloons for a 5v5)
2. Pledged payment: a donator will promise the player that they will pay a certain amount to each person on the winning team (much like the system in sponsored matches)
After the Proleague is over, each player has to first calculate how many star balloons they need to transfer over to other players
This is easy for anyone on the losing team, they simply have to give all the Advance deposit star balloons they received to the winning team (apportioned equally to each winning player). For example if a player's Advance deposit amount was "두 1000" (aka 1000 star balloons per winning player), they owe 1000 star balloons to each winning player. (duh)
A bit more complicated for the winning team. After celebrating the win, the first question asked is "what is everyone's Advance deposit amounts?" Each player on the winning team will tell each other their Advance deposit ("두 ___") figures. If your teammate has a higher or same Advance deposit amount as you, you owe them nothing. If your teammate has a lower Advance deposit amount than you, you owe them the difference between your two amounts. For example, if Player A has "두 1000" in Advance deposit and Player B has "두 700" in Advance deposit, Player A owes Player B 300 Star Balloons.
The actual transferring method of choice is KakaoPay, which I believe is a free way to send money to one's friends/family (like Venmo in the US). The players will transfer 50% of the monetary value of the owed star balloons to each other.
To give an easy example, if Player A owes Player B 400 star balloons, they will send over 50% of the monetary amount (the monetary value of 200 star balloons = 20,000 KRW) to that player via KakaoPay.
50% is used so no one takes a net loss with the Afreeca fees. Afreeca takes 40% from regular streamers, 30% from "Best BJ" streamers, and 20% from "Partner BJ streamers." You are not allowed to broadcast to multiple platforms (like Twitch or YT) if you are a Best BJ or Partner BJ. The vast majority of pros are Best BJs and only a handful are Partner BJs.
This system lets even a losing player keep 10% of their Advance deposit star balloons, that number goes up to 20% for Best BJs and 30% for Partner BJs. Pretty good system for Partner BJs even if they lose tbh.
As for the Pledge payment donations, the individual donators will go around to each winning player's streams and donate directly after the conclusion of the Proleague, announcing in the text-to-speech that it was a donation from Player X's stream. Sometimes this is delayed to the next day as the donator fell asleep during the Proleague and didn't know the results til the next day.

Who is JSA_Dream? and you might as well exclude SC2 players from this list, I can't find any of them.
|
He's head of the JSA uni. Just a popular Afreeca streamer who is interested in BW (there are many of them)

This is really impressive to see, thanks so much for sharing. Really cool that Proleague and K-league help to redistribute some of those donations to some players that are super skilled but terrible at getting their own donations (queen, light, etc) and helps keep the scene alive. Hopefully it can be figured out how to flow that even more downstream to younger/fresher blood and still keep the older generation engaged/paid to keep going.
I'm a huge calm fan but it's insane to me that dude is making over $250k a year in donations for mostly playing UMS games lol. Guess he's just a super fun guy to watch/hang out with?
