On an completely unrelated note, when Mexico had a major abortion date not too long ago, a bunch of Mexican women rioted and tried to burn down the presidential palace. Abortion was decriminalized shortly thereafter

I've stated that I believe the best way to fix this shit is to get the people we want elected and go scorched earth in the attempt to do so. Working within the system to rebuild and fix the system is my preferred method. But it seems as if that won't happen with these policies and rulings. So, YOU need to get YOUR revolution going and I would join in attempt to affect change. But no, our "revolutions" aren't the same.

You should still be voting but you should after this examine what will happen that will make you stop voting and pursue other courses.
Mine has been water rights of the great lakes for a while now.

If there is one good thing here, overturning Roe V Wade may be the silver bullet the Dem's need to survive the midterms, or even route it.

Thanks for acknowledging that you didn't and don't agree that what I advocate is necessary instead of continuing the gaslighting. You don't have to, but it's silly to say you do and immediately contradict yourself by trying to individualize revolutionary struggle and advocating electoralism (not a revolution).
Plasmid, Zambrah, and Wombat (not an exhaustive list) are comrades in the struggle. Your reactionary clinging to electoralism is oppositional to mine and my comrades common aspirations. Working with people to recognize this contradiction might seem like an insignificant task, but it's instrumental in building a viable revolution that you should join and help shape.

Without a workable super majority they still won't be able to get anything done and as your seeing in this thread aswell, people can't help but wonder what good voting Democrat is actually doing.
Voting Dem is the only option, but the only option doesn't do anything. And you can say this is all happening because people didn't vote Dem in 2016 but that isn't an argument that things will get better. Republicans needed to win once (and did), Democrats need to win every single time just to make sure nothing happens. That is not a viable long term strategy.

That leaked ruling actually came to pass? Damn, it’s going to take an enormous number of incremental improvements to dig ourselves out of this mess.

If that's all we're hoping for now then there's really no hope at all. After this string of hyper partisan rulings it's clear that the time to expand the Supreme Court and perhaps implement term limits is now. And at a very minimum they need to get rid of the filibuster immediately and stop Republican state legislatures from taking partisan control of voting and restricting voting access. If they don't do these things at least before the midterms then we really are lost.

Yeah, recent history doesn't really speak for "Thing got bad, this will finally make people do stuff to make things good again"
What actually happens in the US appears to be: "Thing gets bad, this is the new normal now, deal with it. Until the next thing gets even worse."

Biden has the power to increase the supreme court if he can whip the legislative. He never even tried.

I do wonder how the polls are going to look a week from now. At this moment, 538 has Biden at 39.2% approval and 55.3% disapproval. The more I think about it, the more I'm not sure how it'll change

Gee I wonder what he could possibly do to immediately boost his approval rating...

If Biden weren't such a decrepit fucking loser like the rest of the party's leadership, he'd forgive all student loans today and full court press take interviews on all the news shows. Instead, we get a pitiful little news bite quote and the similarly pitiful lamentations of Pelosi. Every single Democrat in charge right now should be shown the door, especially those who have literally been in politics throughout Roe's life and death. That won't happen, I know, but a guy can hope.

I would still vote, myself only because I don’t see the current state of affairs being sufficiently awful to be the straw that broke the camel’s back and see a real whip-back in momentum pushing a real viable, good alternative.
I mean the pushback on Trump was what, Biden?
I don’t see any short term pain leading to long term gain in letting the GOP in, they’re just going to do damage to vulnerable communities that the Dems might mitigate the worst of.
Be it education, priming the ground, personal activism, protests, unionisation etc etc we’re going to just have to push at those things harder than ever.
Electoralism by itself, especially not via the Dems and the centre of the country isn’t going to cut it.
You only have to look at Corbyn in the U.K. to get a sneak preview of those particular dynamics. My personal gripe was we get a left wing candidate who enthused a lot of people and was not given a fair shot to even lose honourable by many of his own party and the centre and who now want us to do our equivalent of ‘vote blue no matter who’
Centrists talk a good game to get people onside, only to slam the door in their face when they’ve got what the want. Plenty on even the not particularly radical left are waking up to this reality

I dont see this ruling beeing positive for either side but that is just my first impression. The democrats have failed to deliver and the republicans might have overstepped. On the other hand this is a very polarizing issue and polarization generally benefits both sides.
Overall i do think this creates an opening for a 3rd party/candidate. Not to actually win but a bigger opening then there has been for a very long time. Both republicans and democrats will try to rally behind this verdict. It could be succesfull but it could also be at the point where it starts driving people away from traditional politics. Its hard to say, will have to see how things devellop.

I know the other day I stated I was going to wait for the upcoming Texas elections to play out before I made up my mind about leaving, but after today I'm going to start lookin for ways out of here. My girlfriend and I were talking about getting out of the country last night. We both want out of this place before the empire truly, finally crumbles into dust and there's nothing left.

Rest assured, empires do not crumble in a day and this nation's collapse will be slow and painful. So you have some time to make your plans :D
