1) Motivation. There are 2 types of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic means that the people on your team are there because they feel a sense of dedication and loyalty to your team - self motivation. Extrinsic means they are getting something out of it, ie extra credit, chance to go on trips etc. What you should do is sit your team down and figure out why each of them are there. Because they are all new, most of their motivation is going to be extrinsic which is fine, but your goal should be for them to eventually find a sense of dedication to the team. So how do you motivate these extrinsicly motivated people? We'll you have to give them something back as reward. It can be something mudane - Remember that episode of The Office where Dwight was going to hand out Shrute Bucks? He had the right idea. I don't know how your team works but you can create competition between the members so they are motivated to get better. For leadership, you're going to have to look at your members and try to figure out what style of leadership is going to work. Because its a new team you need to assert yourself as leader, it doesn't seem like you'll have much of an issue with this. You can do fun stuff to with your team, have like a team bbq or something so theres more bonding. Ill think of more later gotta go to a meeting | ||
