https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/fhjrif/is_the_2020_formula_1_season_over/ I wish it weren't the case, but this thread/meme is absolutely hilarious in context.

It's insane just how quick f1 drivers are though. Watch Lando's stream from the last few minutes of the race and watch him put in consistent 1:29.8s and then watch Jimmy broadbent's second stint. Jimmy's not bad but lando is just metronomically perfect on every corner in comparison to how sloppy Jimmy is.

They had a collection of F1 and F2 drivers, some random famous people, sim racers, youtubers and bloggers. The grid had everything from pro to thoroughly amateur. Of course it ended up being a massive clusterfuck from T1 Jimmy isn't bad by any means, much faster than I could ever hope to achieve, but you're right in that Lando puts him to shame whenever they are driving together. I didn't catch it live, but Lando just uploaded a highlight from his stream where he called up Max, Carloz, George, and a couple of McLaren guys on tips for the race. Thoroughly laughed my ass off:

Another virtual race, this time with Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Alex Albon, George Russell, Antonio Giovinazzi, Nicholas Latifi, Stoffel Vandoorne and Jenson Button. I'm geeking out over here, and have no one to share it with because people apparently don't give a shit about "fake racing"

It's not as realistic as iRacing of course, but it's also not a very serious race, having more focus on fun than racing their hardest (They've also turned the damage right down, and are lenient with track limits).

Wish they had some better infographics in the game. Hoping to see more F1 drivers. I also think they'll be able to turn the damage after such a clean race.

Ben Stokes was miles off the pace and I'm not sure if he had assists on, but he was consistently missing corners. It's a hard game even with assists on. There's also a few issues since some people are playing with 200+ ping, so corners/rubberbanding happens a fair bit which is why close racing is so hard.

The pace seemed a lot better than the first race. I think there was like what, 3 drivers who were over 3 seconds a lap slower? Im hoping they slowly remove the celebrities, and add more F2, FE, or ex-F1 drivers who are up to pace. It'll only get closer and closer. Maybe as a fan of esports I'm a small minority, but gaining exposure in these races raises the driver's stock in my book. Of course it's only like 20% as good as the real thing, but I appreciate what they're doing.

If there's a seat up for grabs at Mercedes, chances are big Ocon is going to get it.

Either a former WC, or else Merc junior (Ocon is not a part of Mercedes any more). Either the most WDC's ever on the same team, or else an affirmation that Merc rewards it's juniors for suffering through years at a thoroughly uncompetitive Williams. Problem for Renault is Alonso probably has an escape clause to leave midseason if they don't have a race winning car. Alonso isn't driving F1 to go mess around in the midfield. If he wanted to do that I guarantee he could've gotten a seat somewhere.

Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principle, is Ocon's manager, so yes Ocon is very much part of Mercedes, and will assuredly be fast tracked there. He only went to Renault (and had a year off) because Mercedes was full in the first place. They loaned him out so he could get the experience. I'd go as far as to say that if they had raced normally this year, and Ocon had shown any kind of promise (like he already did two years ago), he'd already be confirmed for Mercedes. As it stands, they probably want to want a couple of races into the season before they do anything. Alonso isn't getting a top team in his first year back in F1, no one wants him before he can prove that he's still WC material. He was also messing around with mid teams years before he quit in the first place. The tweets from him pretty much confirms that he has a seat next year, and tweets from Renault indicates that it's theirs.

There is a higher chance of Russel getting the Merc seat as long as he does well this seaon and in 21.

Russel is a contender as well. The unfortunate with him is that even after doing well (at least comparatively to his teammate) in the last season, he hasn't been able to show off anything that resembles racing in F1 yet.
