just why
3.15 WW monks per team of 5 players on average, 100% BDK representation and only about 10% of specs had any representation in the top 100 players for that dungeon
If you're going to leave the game as reroll FOTM on each dungeon then just make a tournament realm that anyone can make a full geared char of any spec on instantly IMO - and that includes qualifiers ofc. This kind of competition on live realms just isn't working.

Its the nature of infinite tries. You can run super risky setups. When elimination stage comes around I suspect healers will be back for all teams and its just to risky to run 4 dps. 1 mistake, people die and your out.
Plus I expect the streamed portion to have a limit to avoid class stacking.
|
Im pretty sure the point is there is not really anything stopping them from requiring those rules in the quals if they are going to do it later on in the tourney. Its not hard to disqualify any run without a healer or forbid two of same spec.
The actual balance is a separate issue that is harder to deal with but arguably more important.
|
I doubt there will be a limit on classes (first MDI had 2x war or 2x rogue comps as well), but it will be extremely tough to run any of those comps in the tournament since as stated, if you mess up once, then you are out.
Being able to grind out that 'perfect' run where nothing goes wrong that wipes you will be the nature of time trials like this if the affixes allow it.
I do not think it will be a thing in BfA since DKs are losing consumption currently. This could change, but without it 4 man dps comps become insanely harder to pull off.

IMO this is a huge mess for both playing and watching. At this point i'd even delay the tournament to rethink the rules and start over on qualification.
Does anybody really want a tournament where 5 of the 6 tank specs, 4 of the 6 healer specs and 3 entire classes don't even show up?
Where half of the DPS spots are taken by one spec; some groups running two, three or four of that same spec with the same ability config?
I can't even begin to understand the thought processes here

I watched all the stream portions of the last mdi and I don't think it would have made even that one worse to have not allowed the double rogue/warrior comps.
I watched a LOT of drjay/shakib/etc high end m+ streams when I was actually playing and I watch them occasionally still. Its cool watching them perfect and practice strats and yes they used VERY specific comps even before all this nonsense but now its more like diablo 3 lol. gear up ww monk, than fish for the perfect run. Its clearly not particularly healthy for the game and trying to make an esport out of pve definitely exposes balance problems heh. That said, live portion would be..... interesting.... if nothing changes.

B4A going live on August 14'th so well under 4.5 months
that's pretty soon, i just hope they're open to a fast and substantial changes if still required after launch
Looking at where the alpha is in its current state, I imagine there's a number of devs at Blizz sweating bullets atm.
this pretty much
I'm looking forward to MM hunt, might play it again quite seriously in this iteration. After running around at perma-135% speed for two expansions (WOD MM into Legion Havoc) it'll be a drag to go back to 100% though, that always feels too slow to play as easily and effectively as i'd like in everything from world content to mythic raids. It's a bit of an awkward line to draw between mobility creep and everything being stuck slow, the game is definitely way faster in many other ways than it was a decade ago though.

Atm one of the only things I see that is fully completed on alpha is a couple of the dungeons and questing. Most classes still need tuning or complete fixing (lol prot warrior). And even then there are some pretty annoying bugs with questing (like some quest crushes your quest log to no longer track anything and requires a reload ui to update your quest tracker).
I am hoping for a lot of changes quickly because lots of stuff has no feedback on it so far that will impact a large amount of the game.
|
Am I the only one that this very "open/seeable" Alpha is bullshit?
I'm kinda interested to get into the expansion again but this seriously turns me off... I don't even search for the stuff but it just pops up everywhere. I'm no lore nerd or anything of that sort but this somehow annoys me.

mainly concerned about class design since a good few specs haven't really started work yet

The invite all of the media and shiny names test? ;D

Got some new hardware, mainly faster RAM for WoW. Having some issues doing my repeatable benchmark but seeing a solid performance improvement everywhere
would not surprise me now if the difference between dual channel 2133c16 and dual channel 4000c19 is +30% FPS just from the RAM performance

Yeah, 4.5 months seems like a long time (and it is), but at the same time it's hard not to wonder if the specs which haven't seen any meaningful changes will get the attention they need. A big part of that is how little communication there is.

Just boring that you have to do the same things all over again when its live. But I dont think we get so much info right now that we get really spoilered, at least not if you dont actively search for stuff.
I only know that this expansion is about faction war and that Kul Tiras and Zandalar is involved. And that there is old gods and nagas as enemies, which is not a spoiler imo. Also I will inform myself about class changes which is important to decide which class to play.

My guild finally killed Mythic Argus. We had huge rosters issues, people leaving, lots of people playing badly, I even had to MT the fight despite being a dps usually but it's finally over. 660 Pulls, a bit shy of 2 months of extending the ID for it.
That was..; quite the experience.

Had a 6% wipe on Coven. should die soon. Not sure if I'm looking forward to the last 2 bosses :p

I suspect my guild's raid will fall apart while trying Aggramar because we already have trouble filling the raids. And for Aggramar you need a suitable lineup and can not go with whatever you can scrape together.

coven M was probably the fastest mythic kill out of any boss in the raid for my ex-guild and buddies still in there - something like 100 pulls on vari, 10 pulls on coven, 300 on aggramar.
got benchmark working, initial results:
Blue+Orange is my performance from January on a 6700k@4.5ghz
Green is current live numbers on an 8700k@4.7/4.8ghz
damn that performance gain, i wasn't anticipating having to rescale the benchmark results within 3 months to fit them on the screen
260fps avg on a 6700k@4.5ghz with 2400c16 dual channel RAM in January - most people would say that this is close to the best performance that you can get in WoW.
398fps avg on an 8700k@4.7ghz with 4000c19 dual channel RAM in April - will get ~405 with 100mhz more on the core
warrants much further investigation, this is >50% improvement

I'm so curious as to why people have so much trouble on Varimathras. My guild killed the guy in 30min the same night after we got Kingaroth. Do people not have casters hold procs for adds or something ?

First hour and a half was spent trying to explain how to move to avoid spreading debuff to the whole raid or spawning 3 adds at a time to the people that didn't get it, i stopped raiding progress after that

I just don't understand how people don't get it, maybe some guilds are doing it weird.
You just have both the plagues go behind the raid together with the third tank, they place themselves in an horizontal line with the tank in the middle, then they all come back to the raid together, the tank goes away, and it's done.
It's like, even easier than when people were cheesing it with rogues and hunters.
