edit: China MDI regionals. Lol arcane mage doing 7.5 Million dps through the entire dungeon of BRH. Talk about a pocket strat for sure.

60M dps arcane mage. They must have added a delete button to the class. Note that this mage pulled 7.5M dps throughout the dungeon and was just deleting everything with the buff he could keep spell stealing from the Risen Arcanist.

Ty. Well apparently at least the personal def CDs are not on it, but certain tank abilities.

Weird how inconsistent the whole thing is. And even gcd with 3 different lengths (0.5, 1.0, 1.5). That is just so unintuitive.

Also stuff like mana tea and innervate with 1.5 sec. That seems so stupid. And such a huge nerf to mana tea as a talent.

Overall just bad changes. Will make gameplay much less fluid which has always been the greatest strength of WoW compared to other MMOs.

Eh, mana tea wasn't nerfed badly at all. In response to adding it to the GCD, it now lasts 12 seconds instead of 10 seconds, so you get the same gameplay out of it. But it just slows down the class since now you have to wait after using it and generally when you use a CD like this you want to be casting immediately after.

Did not know they added 2 secs. But yeah makes healing just less reactive which is kinda at the core of healing.

I haven't considered it strong for a while

It was a shadow of wildstar's fluidity IMO which used aimed spells rather than having to click/tab to the right mob and more mobility both in and out of combat. You could cast a lot of stuff while moving, start a cast while falling etc, switch targets mid-cast by turning your character to face a different friend/enemy which you can't do in WoW - your cast will be cancelled or wasted. This includes lots of stuff like the main fury warrior nuke which takes 2 seconds to do its damage, 2/3'rds of it is cleave but it instantly stops before dealing most of its damage if the mob that you selected dies after 1.5 seconds instead. You can play around it a lot of the time but it's like what the fuck is this mechanic, feels awful.

WoW also constantly suffers from server performance problems in the era since WOD in the open world + raids even though dungeon servers work perfectly. It just doesn't seem to be a priority for them to fix, it's rarely mentioned at all. It's like they're deliberately overloading servers with too many instances until the response times are spiking into the hundreds of milliseconds on a regular day and thousands on a bad day in order to save money from running fewer servers. It feels completely different to play an MMO with a constant 20ms ping (or even 50ms ping) than one that says you have 30ms ping but actually takes 200 or 300 to respond a good fraction of the time and that's the biggest thing knocking my fluidity ratings way down even though that other stuff was huge too

The fluidity (or lack of it) is something that i tolerate in WoW rather than enjoy and these kinds of GCD changes like the removal of vengeful retreat combo, tank mitigation/selfheals onto gcd is pushing my rating from meh to outright bad

I would consider all of these as personal defensives of DPS specs, a couple buff the group as well but a bunch do not.

Yeah, you know what I meant. The classic personals that make you take less dmg only. Dispersion, Fort. Brew etc. I saw the other ones myself.

Anyway, tried it a bit on alpha and with the huge gcd on Soothing Mist it does not feel like WoD MW after all. You have this gcd basically before every single heal spell you do, feels really bad.

Also there is a bug (I hope it is just a bug) that does not allow you to cast Env Mist / Vivify while moving and channeling soothing mist. You have to stop moving and only then you can do your instant cast, feels super weird.

Its a bug and will be fixed (blue confirm here: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20762167331).

I think getting a little more haste will make it feel better, but its the same gcd we had in WoD when casting soothing mist (although its possible that gcd was 1s instead of 1.5s).

Yeah I dont remember exactly but it was not like this. Could test on live in pvp I guess.

Also do you remember how we got more renewing mist out in WoD for Uplift? I am sure it was way more than the 3 now in bfa.

edit. gcd for soothing mist on live is less than 0.5 sec it seems

In WoD we had 3x RnM charge, and you had both the chance to not consume a charge on use, as well as each time it healed it had a chance to spread to a 2nd target. It gave us much more coverage in RnM, but it did not smart heal like in Legion where it moves to a target that isn't full hp.

I don't see much of a practical difference between a button that gives you a 30% hp shield vs one that makes you take 35% less damage for 8 seconds; they're used in the same way in day to day play, largely to survive or mitigate hard-hitting abilities on high m+ / Mythic content. Why should one have full GCD and the other have none?

Right, I just remember you could have a ton of them out.

Now as the artefact trait that could spread RnM is gone, you will only have 2-4 out at a time. Since you now have a prerequisite for Vivify it means the spell is actually worse in Bfa than it is in Legion imo. I hope they do something to allow for more RnM to be up, like lower cd or incorporate the artefact trait into the spell by default.

Idk either. I dont understand the reason for any of the gcd changes. But I am glad about every spell that doesnt have it.

So far in 5 mans I have no issues with it, but it will still be seen if in raids if we will be effective to keep up. Before smart heal would cleave to whatever targets needed it, but now your RnM has to jump first, which it might not do in time if you are spamming out vivifies.

I missed yesterdays raid test, but hopefully if any are on Tues/Sat I can make those and give it more testing.

China regionals done. Skyline.D went 8-0 and Sun Sky went 6-4 (all 4 loses to Skyline.D) for top 2. Skyline.D definitely looking sharp in all their games.

I am really looking forward to next few weekends to see what the other teams are going to do.
