And we now have Thorin doing his usual spiel : If anything, Dig winning now proves that his analyst after ESL NY that VP, Na'Vi and SK were heads above the rest of the T2 was complete bullshit.

You can't predict the future as an analyst, merely speculate smartly about it. Not the first time an analyst has been proven wrong, won't be the last. Dignitas wasn't elite tier before Epicenter, that's a fact. They were good, but not that good not to be the underdogs in pretty much every match against VP, Na'Vi or SK... Epicenter is their gate to elite tier. If anything, I'd call out the fact he mentioned Na'Vi as elite, while the team has a map pool way too shallow to be called elite. They're extremely good on a few specific maps (Overpass, Train, Mirage) but outside of that, the level plunge.

Some teams just have that magic run and win it, we will have to wait for next couple of months to really weight in if they are truly a top1 team or not. But in the last months, navi, vp, dig, even nip won tournaments, which makes it clear the scene is as competitive as it can be. Even nV and mouz won someting (althou slightly lower level, but still)

How is he surfing on anything when he states something that's quite a fact? You can disagree whether they should be #4, #5, #6 or #7 but not that they're around that, same for Magisk, he's shown elite tier play during the tournament and he's only been improving since he made waves in SK. How is Thorin to blame, a CS analyst, for stating a CS fact? I get Thorin is not the most likeable person, he can be criticized, but this kind of criticism looks like stubbornness if anything.

the problem with thorin is that he considers himself a "historian" (lol) and is a 4-atheistic-horsemen quoting edgelord

Damn, how come any criticism here of what actually is a controversial figure ends up about his work, which is the least criticizable part of the person.

But he's the closest to that, at least in CounterStrike (and in Starcraft to some extent), whether you like it or not. Damn, how come any criticism here of what actually is a controversial figure ends up about his work, which is the least criticizable part of the person. His journalism/commentary videos are good. The rest of his work is just dissing players, tweeting obvious statements, and predicting map picks based on the previous picks. Even I can do that. Doesn't make me an "analyst" ... Besides, you completely misinterpreted what I said.

If you do research a bit, if you do care and try to figure out why things are the way they are, of course you're going to think he's stating the obvious. That's the case for any domain, if you are actually informed, anyone saying anything may appear as obvious to you, unless it's a very specialised topic. Onto the map picks, well yes, if you can predict the map picks, that qualifies you as an "analyst" to some degree, even so little. But no, he doesn't do it just based on previous picks (hint: there's way more than that). That means you're not the target audience for Thorin's tweets, and what exactly is wrong about that? Is that jealousy to see someone having a big audience while tweeting stuff you think you could come up with? Because otherwise I have a hard time understanding why you care at all about him. If you want to see stuff you wouldn't have thought about yourself, I'd rather suggest caring about YNk for example. Thorin is just tweeting for the masses, that's all. He also tries to be edgy all the time. That's a matter of opinion (I personally think it's cringey 90% of the time). Also, please point out what I misinterpreted exactly?
