This tuesday I ship out to Kunsan Korea for 2 years for my recent deployment. Not really looking forward to the 15+hour flight.
Ive done some research about the custom and curtseys and I have to say some of the stuff is well yah... Public restrooms is a hole in the ground and you wipe ur ass with you hand?? And to wash your hands you just rinse water over it. I hope that many have evolved from this.
But for those who live over there or the ones who have been there, what should I expect. I heard that the Koreans do not like the military and protest alot outside of bases.
Also other than drinking what are some popular things to do over there?

and yes, the american military has a very bad rep because historically there have been several altercations and cases of rape, etc.

don't drink the tap water, unless you boil it first. carry around a small tissue pack (like many countries outside the u.s., bathrooms aren't always stocked with tp). and yes, there are a few people in korea who don't like the u.s.
