Roughly what happened each game? + Show Spoiler + G1 - Dusk Towers - Solar goes spire, gets scouted and countered, goes into lurkers and rams them straight into PartinG's 4th, ends up losing everything, then dies as he tries to transition into BL. G2 - Central Protocol - 2-base chargelot/immortal all-in reks Solar hard. G3 - Orbital Shipyard - Early pool from Solar does a bit of damage, follow-up spire does a ton of damage, roach/ravager push ends the game. G4 - Lerilak Crest - Another early pool, basically no damage this time except delayed natural. Solar takes almost no damage to PartinG's harass so macro game. PartinG takes better fights (and gets massive disruptor hits against roach/hydra/lurker) and wins. G5 - Ulrena - Solar goes for a ling/muta/corruptor comp and PartinG dies before phoenix range is done. Not sure if anything weird happened in the early game tbh, this game was kinda forgettable. G6 - Prion Terraces - PartinG goes for a proxy 3-gate. Solar scouts it but hides the drone so PartinG commits and loses everything. G7 - Ruins of Seras - PartinG goes for a 1-base 4-gate into 1-base immortal all-in. He wastes a lot of adepts and Solar cleans up every wave.

Thanks, doesn't sound like I missed anything to be honest. G1 and G4 look barely interesting.

Game 7 was actually good because it was match point on both sides and seemed so bizzare. There was a lot of tension, Parting was far behind and he managed to FF several Queens and all of Solar's mass Lings into the main base and warped in a round of units but Solar barely sniped the Prism and survived, if Parting made a 2nd Prism instead of an Immortal he honestly would have probably won and it would have been a crazy comeback.

Wait, PartinG was close to winning? I should probably watch that game again...

This was an extremely high pressure situation but Parting could have won from here with some minor adjustments. If he made a 2nd Prism (probably going to be much more common later) he would have won. If he transformed his Prism further away out of the high-ground Queen's range he would have won. He had at least 3 more forcefields and almost enough gas for 3 Sentries (4 if he cancelled the Immortal) so he could have forcefielded the ramp forever pretty much. Solar was also so confident he was making a gas and 4 Drones at the time. Every single Ling, 2 Queens and a spine would have been stuck in the main. You can even drop Sentries behind the 3rd's minerals and still forcefield the main ramp. Here as well Parting was in a very winnable position. But he moved too far away from the wall and burned a lot of forcefields while still not being very cost-efficient. I think if he slowly walked around the edge of the main base to behind the main Hatch he could have taken it. Or if he didn't go into the main and just hugged walls and tried to camp behind the natural. It felt like a really disappointing final game because I thought Parting had lost 4 minutes in but it really did come down to the wire.

Legacy is really demonstrating the raw skill of high-end Korean players. The sad thing is that Heart of the Swarm just didn't give the players enough opportunity to use all of their talents, and games were far too often decided by small mistakes.

Even without nostalgic glasses on SC1's sound design is just way better, I'd definitely fork out for custom soundpacks if they were put on sale. Aside from that, perhaps the perceived state of the game prior to this Dreamhack was a bit off, Zergs didn't clean house quite as thoroughly as many were predicting, although of course it is early days yet and the Kespa train hasn't got rolling just yet. I know this was a few pages back, but agreed 100%. Adding on to the descriptions, the BW sounds were just more harsh and higher pitched, giving them that metallic sounding clarity and fear. When a lurker fire in BW, you could really feel that spine is going to split shit up (getting chills thinking about lurker spine sounds follow by medics dying sound effects), whereas now, it's like, thump... what, how did the bio just die?
