What is ambition? For TeamLiquid.net, our ambition is to be the best at what we do. Our determination takes us there. For years TL has been covering the Korean scene. We have brought the games, the news, and even the pros into your world. Now, with the dawn of a new era ahead of us, it is time for TL to take the next step; not just covering the StarLeagues, but running our own. With that in mind, TL.net proudly presents the TeamLiquid StarLeague.
Built on the determination of dozens of staff, the TL.net StarLeague is unlike anything that has come before.
The Process
- Anyone can play. No invites.
This is not about invitations to free money. This is about YOUR ambition to be the best. Nobody gets a free ride in the TSL. The first stage is a grueling qualification on iCCup.
Anyone outside Korea is welcome to play. For three weeks gamers will claw their way into the top 48. Those that make the top 16 can take a break while #17-48 duel it out in the first of two elimination rounds.
- This is a hard road to travel.
In the first round, Ladder Ranks #17-48 pair up and fight a pivotal bo3. Win and advance, lose and go home. It's that simple.
In the second round, Ladder Seeds #1-16 and the Round 1 Qualifiers play in Dual League style groups, with bo3 matches, and two of the four will advance to the big dance.
- Time to be a SuperStar.
The lights go on and it's showtime. The TSL will be broadcast live through our streaming server. Games will be commentated by our TL commentating team. Interviews will be given, hype banners will be created, and articles will be written. In the end, a champion will be born. With a prize pool of over $10,000 the TSL is the largest and most prestigious tournament for foreigners outside of WCG.
Every staff member here on TL.net will be dedicated to bringing you a genuine StarLeague experience in every way possible. The TSL will be a spectacle in true OSL-fashion: a professional league run by the community and for the community, fueled by pure passion and love for StarCraft.
Registration
Registration is a simple process. Go to iCCup, create a new account, and join the team "TeamLiquid StarLeague". Only new accounts are acceptable. After that, start playing!
Registration commences... NOW!
For those that are rushing off to play at this very second, keep these rules in mind:
TSL Ladder Rules
You can feel free to play whoever you want (not just other TSL players). You can also reset as many times as you wish. Complaints will be handled through the normal iCCup complaint system.

- You must use ICCUP's Anti-Hack Launcher for every game.
- Smurf accounts
You must create an account with your known ID in it. Do not take this request lightly. If we find out you have been smurfing in any way, you will be disqualified. If you are worried about which ID you should use or whether this rule applies to you, ask Manifesto via private message.
Since all accounts must be new, we recommend gamers use a TSL- tag with their name. Ex. TSL-Nony, TSL-FakeSteve. If you find someone else using your known name, PM Manifesto.
If you feel that not smurfing gives you an unfair disadvantage, you must appeal to Mani. We will then give you a predetermined smurf name. Failure to do this will lead to disqualification.
If you want to change names, you must inform us.
No exceptions. - You MUST create a new account. No old accounts.
- No transferring of stats.
- No hacking or abusing. Again, all ladder games must be played with ICCUP's anti-hack launcher.
The question on everyone's mind is "will previous hackers or abusers be allowed to play?" There will be no outright ban on previous hackers or abusers.
However, we reserve the right to ask everyone that qualifies for the Top 48 to comply with safety checks, for example installing an external anti-hack program of our choice and/or recording an FPVOD. If you do not fully comply with ALL of these requests, you will be disqualified and we'll just take player #49. It is that simple. - No multiple or shared accounts.
- No Korean IP addresses.
- No letting others play on your account.
- Do not play in non-TSL tournaments with your TSL account. The points gained will be deducted and you may even be penalized if you continue to play in them. Penalties for violating rules include disqualification, ban from all future TSLs/TL.net events, ban from TL.net, and death.
- This is regarding playing tournaments on ICCUP from your TSL account and gaining points for placement finishes.
This is prohibited. Do not play tournaments with your TSL account. The points gained will be deducted and you may even be penalized if you continue to play in them.
Once you register, you MUST join the TSL team here:
http://www.iccup.com/iccteamjoin/3428/
YOU MUST SEND A TEAM JOIN REQUEST IMMEDIATELY UPON REGISTERING.
You are allowed to play anyone and use any map on ICCUP, but if you want to play other TSL players, the default channel is "TSL Ladder" and if that becomes full, "TSL Ladder2" etc.
TeamLiquid would not be able to run this project without the help of the fine people at iCCup. We would like to thank them for allowing us to use their ladder. Please post your appreciation for their staff.
This is the largest project TL has ever initiated. The logistical scope is unprecedented. In the coming days, details on rules, broadcasting, prizes, and more will be released. We will be creating a separate forum for the TSL to answer all of your questions. For now, you can check out the pre-TSL interviews we conducted with various community members.
We hope you enjoy and take advantage of this opportunity. Good luck qualifying!
