When do we vote for lynching / get more Mafia clues? to put it briefly, the town acts during the day, the mafia acts at night. for now we just sit tight and hope we're still around in the morning

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; Guard me Jesus through the night, And wake me with the morning light.

Ace explained it earlier, it wasn't a random pick. Incontrol was killed because he didn't vote at all for mayor and didn't post during Day 1.

That hurts me that there are people who don't read thoroughly through the thread and then come and spew out stupid questions...Seriously, there was a game up here already - you know what you signed up for! Now go and read the whole damn thing all of you, before posting something that was answered already.

The bodyguard plan started last night. So far what's happpened:
All bodyguards have been contacted and all their info exchanged. Not all DTs have confirmed anything with me yet, I think some of them are still waiting or sleeping. I still have to verify them all at some point anyway, that'll take time but I've already got a plan for that.
|
Also I've said this before but as soon as I was elected Mayor, I got roleblocked.
No extra voting power or double lynches for me today. So I only have a vote count of 1, not 6 for today.
|
So.. by tomorrow if none has spoken up against your townmanship we can be pretty sure you're legit, correct?
|
|
Probably good if I say this btw, I'm much of a lurker not much of a poster. Often enough what I was about to say has already been said. Don't feel like repeating stuff unnecessary. Hopefully I can become more active when the clues start coming in, the whole mayoral part was pretty straightforward for me. The outcome turned out exactly how I wanted (I already expressed my preferred situation at the start/mid of day1).

Too bad I did not and currently do not have time for elaborations, etc. i am currently in process of some life changes. w/e.
i want to congretulate the town with Ace. this guy came up with a plan, won the role and now we are playing a do-or-die game. Pretty normal, if you ask me, we are on a SC forum, so np with do or die. Too sad though...
So why this BG plan is do or die?
first of all, presenting this plan or no does not make ANY differnece for the person is he a mafia or not.
for a normal game, when mafia gets the mayor role, they are getting a HUGE lead by disabling the double lynches. this is sort of a fuckup for the town. and even if the mayor is lynched the first day, Mafia still posesses a huge lead. Now with this plan... If the mafia gets the role of mayor, not only the town loses the double lynching ability, but plus one of the best members - a detective!
On the other side, if the mayor is townie, mafia is in a pretty bad situation compared to the normal flow of the game.
So this is really a do or die situation right now. Now i am praying for Ace to be a townie, otherwise he will laugh on us so hard after our day two lynch... Jesus, i don't want even think about it roght now.
And wtf Ace? Why did you lynch iNc? Why did you lynch at all? Why randombum didn't pardon the first day lynch??? wtf are you all doing here????
(now, Ace, go on and say "good that we didn't vote for you, you don't have time, etc... to which I say - yes, very good". Or say "how would the town elect the mayor otherwise?". to which i say: "idk, somehow, by contribution (yes, i am referring to my list), by other factors, but not for a do or die strategy...)
TL is smart forum, would be bad to score 0:2 against mafiozos
p.s. sorry, expressing my frustration before i am dead

Araav, it would be the same situation no matter who was elected mayor. We can't be sure that anyone is not Mafia. If the mayor is a mafioso, I'd rather lose a detective than have him go undetected: a mafioso mayor can do a lot of a damage. So even on the "die" side, I think losing the detective is the least of all evils. On the "do" side, of course, if the mayor is a townie we gain a ton by having someone we know is a townie, and protected.
If Ace turns out to be a mafioso, we'll just have to move on without our double lynches--we haven't lost the game yet.
As for lynching InControl, I've come to the conclusion that it was a bad decision to take the risk (since we have such a high percentage of role players), but Ace did have a logical reason for the lynch (better than FakeSteve's last game).
|
All I gotta say is ... unlucky I guess. I think Ace deserves a second chance to redeem himself. Hopefully in future nights we can point a good finger to someone...we need stronger clues.

so......
we are lynching quiet people to force them to post?
Do you realize how useless a strategy that is?
We only get one/2 lynches a day....and you want to waste them like that.
First, its perfectly possible for mafia to post without seeming suspicious. So by forcing them to post you gain absolutely nothing.
Second, its possible for a townie to post suspiciously. By focusing on it, you confuse the town, and potentially waste future lynches.
Third, In this case, we knew that empyrean was at best a townie. Going after him offers better odds than lynching inactive posters. This was a very rare situatuion. In most cases, Its better to lynch based on clues
Fourth, by lynching based on clues, you narrow the pool of people that clue potentially refers to, and offer yourself the chance to isolate mafia based on clues.
I am glad you dont have control of future lynches. The reasoning for this one was flawed. Lynch because of clues, not posting activity.
This was a mistake

No, no, no and again a NO! That is not a strategy! That is a strategy for the first lynch only and nothing else. I feel I explained it quite well, feel free to read it all again (Ace can back it up of course, I bet he can form better arguments seeing English is his first language, and not mine )

Lol really it's unfortunate inControl got lynched, but it was just pure rotten luck. I bet if inc was Mafia everyone would be cheering for Ace right now, despite it being of pure luck. I'm just really worried Mafia's already a couple of steps ahead of us. One with a Mad Hatter down, two with Mayor being roleblocked, and three the possibility that Ace is mafia after all *shudders*. But anyway, congrats to you and randombum for getting the mayoral position and the pardoner.
I hope the other blues are paying attention to whats going on generally, especially the Jack. You've got a pretty powerful role there.
Well, at least town seems to have cooled down abit from the junk posts and waiting for night now.

It doesnt matter what lynching it is
its still stupid
especially when you have a gift like empyrean

Fusiondf, that was for the day1 lynch only since we couldn't really rely on such vague connections to clues. We're of course lynching based on clues and whatever else we can do to single out mafia from here on out.

I totally agree and have said that myself from the start. He should have lynched Ghar in my opinion.

I feel I explained it quite well, feel free to read it all again (Ace can back it up of course, I bet he can form better arguments seeing English is his first language, and not mine ) To be honest, if it's a strategy at all, it can't be a strategy for the first lynch only. The whole point of it is to make people afraid to lurk, but if they know that there is no chance of their getting lynched for lurking after the first day, why would they care what the first-day lynch was? If this is a strategy, it has to be at least a part of the strategy for all lynches: i.e., everything else being equal, we lynch the quiet one.
Not much we can do about InControl being dead, now. By the next lynch, we will hopefully have more information.
Wait--that gives me an idea for a role in future games!
Necromancer: The necromancer has the ability, once every ten turns, to bring one of the dead back to life. A clue will be left behind pointing to his identity.
Or something like that.
