I think this is a step in the right direction for Blizzard and Starcraft. I really want to see LotV succeed and I'd love for the game to be more accessible than it currently is. I dream of the day where I ask my friends to try this game out and they don't instantly turn me down because of how intimidating everything seems.
I wouldn't mind if they charged for the campaign and not for multiplayer, I know I'd still buy it for the campaign even though I spend most of my time laddering (though I'm sure Blizzard would lose money). That would be ideal, but, unlikely.
I have hope though. Starcraft is an amazing game, despite how hard it is. Even if it can't be as big as the free-to-play MOBAs or the straightforward shooters, I just want to see the game and the whole scene thrive. I'll admit, I've had my doubts about the toxicity/negativity/pessimism I've been feeling coming out of parts of the community, but I think we'll be okay. I think that with news like this, and hopefully an upcoming announcement about LotV, Starcraft is going to be just as awesome as it always has been.
