So what, if its temporal successor draws a bigger audience? League of Legends, Dota2 and Hearthstone draw an even bigger, and since Team Liquid has also acquired a smash brothers brawl bother something team, who cares? I don't have to make a living off e-sports, I don't need to impress my real life friends and family with being a fan of the most popular basement-dwellers' hobby, I don't even need to spend days and weeks moaning about how it used to be better in the old days.
The old days are dead. Praying for a stream in 240p (if that) of watching a ZvZ, yellow vs orange, on Neo Arkanoid, while not understanding a word of what's being shouted in a minimal bitrate? It was good back then, now, we've got high res streams of all the good stuff, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The games may not resemble a Jaedong vs Flash Starleague final, they may not be commentated by the MBC casting team anymore, it is the game I love and therefore I'm grateful.
Thank you Sonic, Hwang Hyo-Jin Nim, first of all. All the hard work this man does, once even to the point of collapse, he is the focal point of Starcraft today. Then there is the snipealot team; running 4 fp streams at the moment of writing. And my special thanks to the Starcraft_BW_VoDs stream, of which I know nothing -but that it is broadcasting professional Starcraft every hour of the day. If things go bad, and they often do, I can always tune into your stream and watch the pros of old deliver game after game of delicious Starcraft. I do exclusively watch Korean streams, because I can't stand sports commentary in any language, and while my Korean is still bad enough to miss 90% of what's being howled/cried/shouted out about a 16 year old videogame, I've got the best of both worlds.
Now, here I sit. I've spent years as a TL member, posting less and less, but this will not be my last post. As long as there is Starcraft here, I will be too, enjoying it, tolerating my fellow forum members. There isn't really a point to this blog post other than
Thank you Team Liquid, everyone who worked hard to make and keep it what it is today, I'd have a worse life without you.
