Yes, the base layout resembles Akilon quite a bit. Was this intentional, not at all. At first I just wanted the main to be more towards the middle of the map rather than the corners. Further, I wanted the expansion bases to be forward of the nat/main combination, to provide a forward line of defense and vision, rather than the isolated bases and sheer dead spaces in Akilon; thusly this is the resulting progression of bases from those ideas.
If you decide to take the 3/9 oclock bases as thirds, the rush distance for the enemy is about the same as to your nat; the risk is the larger area to defend. There are collapsible towers, to help defense at the ramp, and to block a secondary side path, though the player may choose to keep this open for flanking attacks.
If you decide to take the middle base as the third, the rush distance is considerably less for the enemy, but there is a much smaller choke to defend. There is also a small cliff connecting this base to the main, usually meant for Reapers, but can also be used for Colossus. There is also destructible debris behind the minerals to open a shorter ground path from the nat.
