I would call this whole thing a joke but in fact it BEGAN with a joke, now it's a way for Stephano haters to bring him down... I noticed that the pro community was really harsh with him too, like they're feeding the troll : I just watched state of the game and they were talking about the favourites for WCS World, they mentioned Nerchio and Scarlett but not even Stephano. When ToD said "there is also Stephano" JP said "Well if he doesn't meet another 14yo girl again"... Seriously that's all to say about Stephano and WCS World ? Because everyone agrees on the fact that Protoss should rule the WCS world, now what would have been great to discuss is Stephano's chances given that he has the best ZvP in the world... Honestly i'm not an american hater but this overreaction is just soooo silly. Just because we want him to be punished with that stupid "dirty joke" doesn't make us a hater. if he were to do it privately, then it's fine. Surely not when his "buddy" was streaming to the public with the sponsor logo on the steram

Then the community went off crying like it always does. Complaining to sponsors and everything else trying to flame him into oblivion. The sc2 community honestly sucks. You're too quick to pull the trigger because of one little joke, event or sentence. Honestly who gives a shit how these people talk. Does it have any impact on the plays they make in the game? They are manner and everything else in tournaments. I'm just tired of seeing every little "fuck up" as you would like to call them being ridden until the player is not even recognized anymore. Everyone here makes inappropriate jokes. Stop trying to get others fired for what you do.

It is a widely recognized person with a couple huge sponsors saying he abused a 14 year old girl. Like it or not, but stuff works differently when you are popular.

And to those guys posting in support of buggering 14 year olds . . . you have serious issues. You have to consider that the Penn State-coach/molester isnt exactly world wide knowledge, so you have to excuse a frenchmen for not knowing about it and adjusting his (somewhat twisted) humour accordingly

But he is paid a lot of money to be on an international (US based) team. Imagine the PR nightmare that a professional sports team would incur if its young star player was caught making statements like that. Sponsors don't want to be associated with child molestation, not even in a joking way. So EG had to take some action.

They are stilly heinously misogynistic and they racist/homophobic jokes are so common that you'd be hard pressed to convince any rational outside observer that it's little more than a KKK rally. I'm honestly surprised that little incidents like these STILL spark so much objection. Time and time again community leaders have made it clear that they don't want their players/casters behaving this way. They are the ones dealing with all the money so if anyone knew how this behavior impacted business it would be them. They either don't think they can sell Starcraft to the mainstream with this behavior or these fan protests actually do financially threaten them and this change is coming internally. Either way, people who think that this is just harmless fun are in the minority (otherwise there wouldn't be action taken against players/casters). At this point I've completely lost interest in the actual incidents and I'm genuinely fascinated by the people who, time and time again, argue that this behavior has a place in our community. Who do you really think you're going to convince? I literally cannot agree more with this post. The naivete of some people in this community is incredible. It has been made absolutely clear that it is unacceptable, but there are still people white knighting for those doing it. You'd think people would realise that its beyond that level now; brushing it off and covering it up isn't going to work.

Someone making a random post on TL have nothing to do with that. Though you could argue EG is a bit hypocritical considering the way some of their other players have acted through the years.

So - to make a long story short - EITHER we should stop fooling ourselves and stop this abundance of sex between teenagers OR we stop the hypocrisy and allow sex between adults and teenagers as well. My choice clearly lies in the first version since teenagers in the midst of puberty are not clear enough of mind to judge carefully themselves.

Smoking weed, abusing a kid, murdering someone its all the same right?

Point is, Stephano said something, on a stream, intentional or not, about something offensive. It is absolutely within EG's right (and they should) suspend him. Stephano is a public figure, like it or not. And for a e-sports team that's run on only sponsors basically, it's a huge deal.

Stephano has always been in a sense 'out of control' at times, like when the cops had to go get him when he got completely wasted.
