He's not scripted, he's just milling about.

Instead they seem to take turns blathering about random stuff and then screaming during teamfights. :-( Oh well. Just goes to show we need professional casters doing this rather than people whose main job is to create video content and the like; it's a quite different gig.

There should be a give and take between the two, with the play-by-play guy briefly describing what's going on in the lanes and the analyst making comments like, "That matchup favors the red team because they'll be able to poke more. But if he doesn't win the lane with that, the blue champion will scale better into late game because of blah blah...." Actually, Phreak's forum title now says "shoutcaster". huehuehuehueHUE we're stuck with him. I again lift up Tobiwan as my favorite play by play caster of any game. Like the screen can just be exploding and somehow he makes sense of it into a coherent story while expressing his excitement in varied tones of voice I've never heard anyone else use with any emotional honesty. Maybe that's a little hyperbolic but IMO he just goes to show that play-by-play casting can have exceptional quality to it and add just as much to the experience as a great analytical caster.

The casters in league just seem like they're trying to grab the spotlight at times and any down time between their voices spewing out random stuff (a lot of it is just pure nonsense if you actually pay attention) seems to be taboo for them.

Those aren't their defined roles of course, but they work together very well. You might want to specify who you are talking about but I am pretty sure its Rivington and Phreak. With Jatt and Jaws the roles are pretty clearly defined.

Toby does have a big advantage tho. As far as i know he has done professional voice work. His voice is a ton better then almost anyone in the business.

As far as the second part of my post was directed at most casters, and the first part is probably just me thinking there's not enough fun people to listen to. (I think I like Deman, if I'm thinking of the right person. He has a very entertaining voice). Well, in most cases, everyone sounds like they're spouting nonsense at least 50% of the time. Just from a content standpoint, it's not very appealing to listen to because they spend a significant amount of time just using crutch phrases and filler words to fill up time. It's kind of like how when I first did speech and debate, in order to not flub, I just used as many filler words as physically possible so I could bridge the gap between the actual content, which was awful because it was annoying to listen to.

Afaik, for Season 3 though, when it starts there will be additional qualifiers and Relegation matches. Think how in GSL Code S has people seeded into Code S and then Up/Down matches from Code A. It's going to be sort of like that. Sort of.

Both of the teams which have put money (or plan to) into a nice gaming house are now in the 3rd place match and only one of them will actually be able to fully use it for S2 championship. Probably more financial burden for CLG though since they don't have a huge organization like Curse behind them. Doesn't TSM have a gaming house also? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the point you're making.
