WE were kind of over-rated though, people rate Chinese LoL team based on their respect for Chinese Dota. Well played by Legion but the level of play from WE is just dissapointing Although in their defense, this tournament does not give them circus points (nor do they care about circus points) so they may not be trying very hard. Misaya did not play TF even once out of 3 games and I am pretty sure TF was not banned. TF was banned all games. Next time you're gonna tell me that WE wasn't trying hard vs CLGeu in OGN. Teams don't fly to tournaments just to mess around. Now whether WE were holding back strats that they'd rather use for S2 is a different story, but not trying hard isn't an excuse at all.
I know for a fact that CLGEU banned TF in OGN.

And please don't ever make the excuse that a team didn't try as a reason for losing offline. I warn for nonsense bs like that.

TD have been trying what used to work for them and seeing if it still works. It doesn't. Dignitas after their training in Korea was able to exorcise them in the IPL July Elite Circuit Finals. Trying to do your old style strats doesn't cut it any more in LoL. It's sadly what's holding CLG back.
Trying to just durdle around and maybe do something is no longer acceptable in tournament-level play it seems.

Don't take my words for it, but I am pretty sure scarra said in his stream a few days ago that this won't be the most important tournament because the regionals are coming soon.

You gotta watch Olympic badminton more often.

I am not saying WE is throwing the game. They are obviously not throwing.

You can easily just say that WE is in a slump. Rather than implying they weren't trying as hard. Slumping is a real thing, it happens. Not trying is pretty rare in competition.

This isn't playing for seeding (or trying to avoid the seeds that match you with the good teams).

Its might not be that important for Dignitas yes as the NA qualifiers have yet to begun, but WE is auto qualified into the World Championships because for a long time (and probably still are but new iG looks really good from seeing their battle royal games v tpa) they were the undisputed best Chinese team so Tenecent gave them an auto invite.
WE is a fantastic team with exceptional players however they got outplayed this time by Legion, hoping they do well in their Lower bracket groups.

That SGS video was so touching. I hope they go far.

They have done really good so far, the TSMvSGS will be a good match. Does anyone know if it'll be on the IPLLoL stream or moved to main stage?
|
Loser's bracket is different than groupstage->single elim with predetermined brackets. You have to play twice as many games as staying in winners, all the while with the stress of knowing that your teams tournament life is on the line. Having been in SC2 tournaments where I'd lose first round and then make it through 4 consecutive losers bracket rounds just to lose to somebody who went out after winning 2 matches really does suck. Nobody wants to be in loser's bracket ever.

He said that in the context that teams will probably be saving strategies for the reqionals. Doesn't mean that they won't try their hardest, also teams will probably be pulling out a few things here and there, I mean it's 40k (?) on the line.

Is there any player from those 8 teams at IPL called Justin..something?

Still a big deal.
Sure, you save the secret strats. But that just means you try really hard playing your standard game. And if you get rolled playing standard v standard, then you got a big problem.
